And I really don't compete in Duo or OO so I have no predictions (STATE COUNTDOWN 17 DAYS!)
The circuit in San Antonio has been very competitive, especially in Duet and Duo. Mainly Churchill, Lee, and Saint mary's Hall. I'm looking forward to coming to state in Duet as a Sophomore. I predict that San Antonio will do very well at State.
Pieces that stand out will be red
Duets:
Churchill:
Wickens/Barton- "Sibs"
Medrano/Rodriguez- "Cradle and all"
Kilgore/Clarke- I don't remember the name, but it does fairly well.
I don't think "Sibs" or "Cradle and all" are going to State.
Lee:
Woods/Barenblat- "The Miracle Worker"
Heron/Schwope- "Pillow Talk"
Saint Mary's Hall has a few good duets, but I can't think of them.
Gregory-Portland (They've come to a few SA tournaments)
Guardiola/Partridge- "The Big Bang"
Successful Duos:
Churchill:
Medrano/Trapp- "Miss Beth"
Rodriguez/Rowton- (haven't seen it, but I've heard good things)
Wickens/Barton- (Havent seen it, but I hear they aren't going to state I don't think.)
Lee:
Barenblat/Lester- "Chicago"
Woods/Albrecht- "Clue"
Hall/Heron- "The Awesome Duo"
La Vernia:
Fontenot/Merritt- (Forgot the name)
Saint Mary's Hall:
4 good Duos (Steves/Watt is the best one I think... I've heard good things)
Original Oratory:
Churchill:
Clark
Medrano
Rodriguez
Morse
Stone
Barton
Lee:
Albrecht
Saint Mary's Hall:
Suri
DI:
Churchill:
Morse
Lee:
Albrecht (Really Touching, and great portrayal. I'd be suprised if it didn't do well.)
Barenblat
Woods
HI:
Churchill:
Medrano
Rodriguez
(I love both of these...)
Saint Mary's Hall:
Suri
Steves
(Both of these are phenomenal)

The San Antonio/Austin/Valley circuit is not as strong as last year in my opinion but there are still quite a few competitors to watch out for in the events that I have competed in. I'll be taking DI, Duo, and OO to State and DI & DX to District, which starts tomorrow for those of us in Central Texas (I'll post results afterwards)
Duo - Medrano/Trapp (Churchill - "Miss Beth") & Barenblat/Lester (Lee - "Chicago") both have a good shot at State and qualifying for Nats.
Duet - Woods/Barenblat (Lee - "The Miracle Worker") did phenomenal at the beginning of the season--not as well recently, but if they can reignite that spark they'll do great at State. Guardiola/Partridge from GP have done well, also.
DI - Albrecht (me! Lee - "RFK") I really love doing this piece...I've placed top three at several local tournaments. Steves from St. Mary's Hall had a great DI last year...actually haven't seen his this year but I know he's qualified. There's several other SMH kids who are qualified but they haven't competed on the local circuit much.
OO - Rodriguez & Medrano (Churchill) have won at most local tournaments. I personally love Morse's (Churchill) OO--it has consistently finaled and could do well. Suri (SMH) also finals frequently.
SC - Hernandez (Lee), Dunbar (O'Connor), Richey (Mac), Dorsa (Mac), and Syed (Johnson) have all impressed me.
Extemp - same as Congress, plus watch out for Pustelnyk from Lake Travis. That kid is dang good. Also Villaplana from Churchill & Hurley from La Vernia.
Good luck everyone! State is in two weeks!!![]()
