I need a good topic to write about for my SOS. I was thinking phobias or misuse of Proper american language in our society but...those are frequently used, right? Any original topics out there?

I need a good topic to write about for my SOS. I was thinking phobias or misuse of Proper american language in our society but...those are frequently used, right? Any original topics out there?
"Original" topics hardly exist anymore. The best speeches I've seen take an overused topic, and put a fresh spin on it, taking a different perspective or focusiing on a particular aspect.
For example Tiera Novy's speech last year (I'm assuming you're in Illinois) took a simple speech topic: Be nice to each other, and turned it around: People pleasing is bad.

Everything has been done before. I don't compete in SOS, but in OO its the same problem. Just pick a topic that means something to you, that can be applied to a greater audience. the most important thing is that you care what you're talking about.
