dude krispy I'm the same as you
I am like my teams official tournament walker, like I could win middles just for wandering.
We should mosey around birmingham together.
Stare at the wall...
Practice, run over case, anything that will help
Think about dinner
Run a game of "Let's see who can get the most numbers!"
Listen to my IPOD
Text my friends
rehearse, talk with coaches, rehearse
Sleep!!

I feel you.
I'm the master walker on the Western Kentucky team.
"Drew, if you get arrested, you're paying the drop fee."
Hmm at Westlake tournament last year some friends of mine and I walked around singing American Pie. That was really fun.
Most tournaments I go meet people, or take someone's tea and hide it in a locker.![]()
there are two things to do at tournaments in downtime
a) you walk around talking to and buttering up other debaters, i win a lot of rounds because I flirt with the girls beforehand!
b) mock the *********s who play guitar at tournaments and think they're cool
Play cards, talk to people from other teams, and wander around the school and get lost. Good times!
I never get bored at tournaments! There's always something to do...in between rounds: prep for the next round, talk about your previous competitors....before awards: speculate, place a few bets
But if I do find myself getting a bit bored with the tournament...I like to:
Definitely catching up on some sleep.
Or I just plug into with my iPod and sing my heart out (who cares if people stare)
Mostly though, I just go up to people and introduce myself and get to know them. That's the best part of tournaments--meeting new people.
I do a little bit of everything- listening to my iPod, listening to my duo partner's iPod, eating (Swedish Fish, Rolos, any kind of junk food that I never eat unless at a tournament), staring at the wall, watching other people practice pieces, walking around and try to get lost, playing any piano that is sitting around, making friends with other people in my previous rounds, cards... the list could go on and on...
I speculate and wander around aimlessly with my friends. And sometimes we find a patch of grass and play Frisbee (it looks wayyy more impressive when you wear a suit and play). But mostly speculation and random shenanigans.
I'm in Congress so my only free time is during lunch or our 5 minute recesses. Therefore my only options are 'stare at the wall' or 'work on speeches.' If a spontaneous game of blackjack or the theatre game 'Freeze' is going on I'll join that. If my lunch schedule doesn't match up with anyone from my school (Since I'm the only congress debater there) then I will spend lunch talking with people I just met or looking at the Interp kids practice to the wall.
