    Default CFL questions

I was wondering if neone knows how i could go about competing in CFL if i dont already. I live in Texas and i saw the next tournament was in Houston(not too far away)

also if the judging and such was rather conserative, as far as no dirty jokes and language and that sort cause it is Christian. thanks.

Ok, one, run by Catholic organization, but not neccessarily going to effect judging as most judges are those brought by the schools competing.
Two, Last year it was Houston, this year it is Appleton, or Apple Valley or something.
Three, go to ncfl.org peruse until you find a link for local contacts, look for the one that applies to you.

ok. cause even in NFL and local TFA tourneys i get docked for content by some judges. Not being conceded but i do do the piece well.
I was wondering if it might be 10 fold at CFL, but ur right most are just coaches and such.

    Nething else would really help.

Our school board, being the imcopetent apes they are, decided to impose upon us the stricture of belonging to only one league. We used to attend both NFL and CFL Nat's, but when posed with the decisions, our conveniently Catholic coach chose CFL.

Really, you're not going to meet much different skepticism in CFL. Regardless of it's name, it consists of mainly public schools. You may have to be careful more so than that NFL as you have a slightly higher chance of hitting a religious zealot. So far though, I've been lucky enough to not be called on starting several of my sentences with "Christ" (my coach tells me I'm not allowed to take his name in vain).

CFL has some dumb policies. Dramatic Performance lumps together the screaming hacks that are dramatists and the tasteless jerks that are humorists. Ironies abound, I'm both anyways. I personally think this set up is poor as someone who has a ball-breaking humor can be stomped because they get a poor drama-to-humor ratio.

There are some other shafts but that's the one that comes to mind. The Nationals are in Appleton Wisconsin this year, really not a huge city from my experience. Houston was amazing as I was staying literally a block away form the largest Mall in the city 10th in the country). Rumor (and rumor alone) has it that next year has Orlando in discussions for Nationals.

ehh, judging can be different, at least here in NJ.

The last CFL tournament, my partner and I do a piece about rape. We had all great comments, but in finals we went 3-6-3 (4th overall) and the only negative comment directed towards either of us was "This piece is inappropriate for a CATHOLIC Forensics League tournament." While most judges are from competing public schools, theres always a judge like this waiting in the wings.
The only thing worse than not knowing
is you thinking that I don't know

Indeed. While the local tournaments are almost entirely judged by coaches from other schools who normally don't care one way or the other, at nationals you need to be much more careful - I personally watched a judge who happened to be a nun jump a few inches out of her seat in a final round at CFL nats when a friend of mine used the f word in his piece.

Yeah, the ceremonial pipes up their butt twitch when you do that.
