Woohoo. Made duo and duet list. Barely missed HI. I don't think i'll be able to get any more points. I don't think I'll be competing again until state.
as wonderful as it is to list every single person and their point totals, it is ridiculous to assume that those with the highest point totals will place highest at state. the main reason for this has to do with national tournaments. for example a few of the texas congress kids i.e. kevin eaton and myself debate heavily on the national circuit, thus our points are lower then many others because instead of attending TFA tournaments they are attending out of town tournaments.
just something to keep in mind.

Well said Ms.James. However, I think state points actually determine not only whose going to do well at state, but actually, whose going to do well at life. I know if I walk into a crowded room, and announce how many points I have in each event, i'm immediately offered a chair and a cold drink. People are THAT impressed. I actually didn't even have to apply to college, all the big names came to me. The debate coach at a certain Ivy league (I won't name names) actually said he'd do unspeakable morally reprehensible things to have me debate for them once he saw I'd hit the 30 point mark. Katie...how could you be so ignorant?! State points are by far the most important thing in the world. TOC bids...I laugh, HA! They give those away like candy at a parade. State points are where it's at if you want to TRULY measure legitimacy...good day to all.

Yeah. two years ago a guy from our school had the most DX points and he didn't even make it out of prelims. Your points has to do with your region, the tournaments you goto, and how many entries are in the tournament. You could goto small tournaments all year and rack up a bunch of points, but that won't help you do well at state.

exactly. same thing at our school a few years back. he had most in HI and didnt even get out of prelims. But then again if u have a lot of points and your district/region is hard. then well, that probably means they are good.
