Any big tournaments coming up in Illinois? Where are they and who will be there?

well, this weekend there are a couple big ones... DGS and Libertyville. Both have a lot of schools entered. DGS is pretty much the biggest of the year besides state.
After that, there's only one more weekend, and then the state series starts! So excited!
Our speech league's final tournament is this weekend at Southeastern IL College. It isn't big compared to the other tournaments to the north of us, but it's a "big" tournament for us in that it's a warm-up for sectionals. Basically, every team from our sectional will be there but one.
Is your team not entering in a tournament next weekend before regionals? I think we're heading to Lincoln's tournament next weekend.Originally Posted by bwspeechteam
Good luck at your meet this weekend!
We were going to go to Lincoln, but I don't think so now. Our budget is getting tight, we'd be missing several people to all-state music, and we will REALLY need that day to work on PIR.Originally Posted by IwillSing4U2222
were you at the Heyworth tournament? I sent the team there with my assistant coach...definitely a smaller tournament than we expected.![]()
Libertyville has 35 teams this weekend
I know DGS is quite large and two days
Maine East has their 39th Annual Tournament next weekend, usually large numbers .... semi final and final rounds....
Double Diamond Always follow your dreams!
BWSPEECH- I heard that Derrik (sp?) was auditioning for some major stuff- True? Also- what's he doing for you this year?
jayman, sorry if I should already know this, but who are you/what school? are you from IL?Originally Posted by jayman
Yes, Derrick was one of twenty students in the nation to get an all-expenses paid trip to Miami to audition for some big-wig theatre schools. He worked very closely with Anthony Rapp all week (who played Mark in Rent), and also worked with Debra Winger, a big-time actress from the '80s, and Celeste Holm. I wasn't sure who she was until I IMDB'd her...she's done lots of film and TV since the '50s.
He won't find out about all his scholarship offers for a little while, but he has already received quite a few.
On the team this year, he has done several events...radio, prose, DI and special occasion speaking. I'm not sure yet what he'll be doing at our NFL qualifier because it's not until mid-April, but I'll probably enter him in DI and turn his SOS into an oratory.

But we got back in town right after the third round got out - so I drove there to watch awards. I was sad I couldn't compete, but oh well =/
Anyhow, if you use this weekend for the PIR, have fun! And if you end up coming to Lincoln, then I'll see you there!!!
My team WAS going to Lincoln, but our coach decided to make it a work day instead. She wants us to prepare all day for regionals. Whatever. Also, i just found out our team's budget is super low too. I guess that means more fundraisers! haha.
