Default October 9th - Domestic - The Election, Part One.

Okay, this is going to be a two-part Topic of the Week, with the second part to come the week of the elections.

First, if you are 18 or older, have you registered yet for the election? The deadline is sometime this week, but in most states, you can do it online.

Second, how do you feel the elections will play out? Which party will be in control of the House and the Senate? What will be the effects on the current administration?

    Discuss.

    1. I'm registered.
    2. Dems will make gains. They'll take the house, and will have a 49-51 minority in the senate. There.

I actually had an extemp question over the weekend if the Dems are strong enough to win the seats in Congress. My conclusion wasnt "Are the Dems tough enough?" but "Can the Republicans do anything to stop it?"
    How does that taste?!

Yeah, apparently the "make sexual advances towards the demographic too young to vote" plan didn't have the intended right-wing boosting effect.

    oh, my.

well i hope the democrats take congress, but i have a feeling that they won't.
also, our state (Va) is about to pass an amendment to basically ban gay marriage. sigh.

I think they might. You know it's looking bad for the Republicans when a state such as mine, a traditionally red state, is disgusted with party members.

Slight gains for the Dems, I think. My thoughts are: However this election plays out, will be a good indication of what could possibly happen in the Presidential elections in two years. *cough* Evan Bayh *cough*

Bayh? Thats like saying that Janet Napalitano is going to be the next president.

That would be the supposed-lesbian Democratic governor of Arizona.
    How does that taste?!

I think that republicans will maintain majority this election. But the '08 election will go in their favor both presidentially and in congress
Arguing with a Democrat, is only slightly easier than tunneling through a mountain with your forehead.
