Novice States? WHo else HAS them besides FL?

I was sitting...and listening to wysong speak, in that amazing voice that he has, at novice states... and he said something along the lines of "bleh bleh bleh florida is one of the few states who has a tournament entirely for novices"

and i was thinking how fun novice states was...because it was actually competing as opposed to being quashed (lol), and you dont feel like some sort of complete weirdo, because everyone else there is new at stuff, and if youre bad, no pressure, youre a novice! and if youre good, its cool, cuz youre just a novice...either way it works.

and then i wondered....what other states have novice states? are that many people deprived of the wirdness/fun of novice states?!?!

P.S. BIG THANKS TO JESS AND KELLY FOR THE PAINTING OF THE FACES AT NOVICE STATES...that lady at chic fil a was da BEST.

SC has no novice states. **** we only have one tournament that is entirely for novices. We don't even divide it. We have the novice tournament, then throw them to the sharks.

My league has a small novice tournament at the begining of the season, and all the new kids come and compete against eachother, while returning competitors judge.

At the end of the season, we also have a Non-seniors tournament. You aren't allowed to do any event you have done that year, (in efforts to get people out of DI, HI, and DUO into other catagories) All the seniors judge.

PS: I'm from California, so this might not apply.
