I've made other people cry in prose, but usually the only times I cry myself are for different reasons.*

*I'm not arrogant, I just get bored easily

i have to admit, i have cried for 4 pieces in all 4 years of speech competition. 2 were duo's, and 2 were prose. it was Ganer Newman doing "Lucky Man" by Michael J Fox. His cutting + his performance = tear jerker every single time i saw it. and it was the same guy, Ganer, doing "Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key". simply amazing. honestly though, if anybody has ever seen this guy perform, hes amazing. because one of the 2 duos i cried during was his too, "The Shape of Things". the kid can just yank some tears.

Well this last weekend at Crestian, there was one prose that I didn't cry at, but got goosebumps from (similar in reception of emotion). Tim Norton's performance of The Diary of Jack the Ripper was utterly disturbing. It was all about the character that he built. He ended up winning the tournament.

The first time I'd ever seen Ganer perform was in semi's at CFLs. It was a prose round, and I don't remember what it was called but his performance was stunning. I tend to control myself emotionally while I'm still in the competition, but had I been out at that point I would have been done.

John Magaziner's Dylan nearly made me cry once. It was amazing.

Thats funny, I always tell Tim that his Jack the Ripper is entirely too sexy....or maybe I'm just turned on by that sort of thing
