Speech WIERD Trends

yeah, i got 6th in extemp (a room filled with uber-analysis judges, which is how it should be, really got to me since the topic area was SE Asia). i let it get to my head, figuring that i would automatically lead to victories on the local front. i have gotten second at 3/4 tournaments since.

I used to keep my glasses on but then one time I was doing h.i. and they fell off and I broke them. Mom wasnt to happy about that.So, after I would take them off right before I preformed and put them on the closest desk because Im so **** blind that without them I would walk into the chalkboard (which i did a couple of times)

One trend that pisses me off is people bringing large good luck charms to rounds. Thats just silly. the people with the large good luck charms usually suck too.

Another trend that pisses me off is large childish slippers. They're just odd. Especially when you take them to rounds.

Sometimes I have a "lucky" something with me. Not seriously, but its fun. at the first tournament of the year, my friend and I found some chestnuts on the ground. they went with me to every round that tournament.

but mostly, my partner is my good luck charm. haha

i always take my bag into rounds. i carry too much stuff not to have it.

i have to have my glasses on to perform, and though it does hurt communication from performer to audience, judges should not mark off for wearing glasses. that would be like marking off b/c you're over or underweight, or have a broken limb: not exactly something you can control.

my hair reaches to my waist, maybe slightly past. it takes enough gel to drown a small army to make my hair stay put. that and an equivalent number of bobby pins. gel is necessary for most people.

and yes, i've noticed the similarity in speechies. we do all look alike. more than that, i've noticed that schools look the same. like, the speechies from this school all look the same, and the ones from that school all look the same, and then we all generally look like each other. weird, but cool.
