Default searching for strong female prose, serious

ok, we're trying to find a strong prose for one of our girls. not having a whole lot of luck, and she'd like to get this taken care of. any help that anybody can give us would be greatly appreciated. she would prefer serious, and i honestly don't think she could do funny, anyway. she's a sophomore, and a first year speechie, but i think she can do really well with as many people as we have to help her out. so, and suggestions? thanks a bunch!

i saw Bald in the Land of Big Hair performed my Maggie Waid last year as a solo. actually it was dramatic performance and CFL state. she was amazing. that is a good piece.

well, this girl's new. she found a piece she loved, but it turns out another girl had already claimed it. and she's not just going to jump at the first thing we hand her b/c we've taught her better. look, she turned down a piece that lasure kept trying to force on her. continually. he acutally kind of still is. if a newbie can handle lasure like that, i'd say she'll be fine.

I did a piece last year about this girl who is trying to be perfect and ends up killing herself (sounds overdramatic, but its not too bad.) Its called VoiceOver by Shanley Jacobs - I think it was published by some University (you know, they put out those "student works" magazines)... anywho, if you are interested, I could send you a copy because I dont think its avaliable in stores or online.

I totally agree, but if this girl is new, I can imagine she doesn't have the best handle on what she needs to be looking for. I only really became good at finding pieces this past season - and that was with a lot of "practice" so to speak (and hanging around here). Like anything else it is a learning process, so I don't see anything wrong with starting her off on the right foot (as long as she doesn't come crawling back here, begging for suggestions season after season ).
