Bow ties kick but. You wouldn't believe how many compliments I've got on the judges ballot about my style (especially in debate).

I think bow ties are okay in debate, but not in speech except for one time one of my teammates wore a bow tie and got third.Originally Posted by rkrboi

i cant let myself wear collared shirts as i play with the collar when i am nervous. no necklaces either. always a pair of heels...i have no idea why but i feel like i perform better in them. i do use color to emphasize something in the piece. for example my piece is about columbine shootings so i wear red or black.
I normally would go w/your typical black suit with a variety of shirt colors and even more ties. But as I get closer to my state series, I think I'll tone it down to the black suit and turtlenecks. I don't know yet.
Through him, I am a Champion
I'd like at what is typical in Illinois and make sure that if nothing else, I am equal with that. Turtlenecks are looked at as a step down from the full blow suit. I can't remember the last male state champion who was not wearing a shirt, tie, and a coat, if not a full blown suit.
Love me some pinstripe suit with PAISLEY PAISLEY PAISLEY!!!!!! Ties are my favorite thing in the world. I have many shirt/tie combos. Some of them are pre-lim attire, others are break day, and then there are the DUO outfits, Oh man. So many ties, so many shirts. LOOOVE forensics fashion and this thread even more.
"Where's Gary?"
I STRONGLY suggest looking second-hand for suits. I was just at Goodwill today and for three dollars I picked up this lovely blazer that was originally $80 with the tag still on. Don't look down on it because it is second-hand. Generally people take good care of their blazers/suits and just don't have a need for them anymore. And hey, if they're in good condition, I don't see a problem with it.
Question:
The blazer I picked up today at Goodwill looks idential (from what I can tell) to this:

Is it over the top for competing? I'd pair it with simple black pants and a black shirt that's similar to hers.
I'm a girl competing in HI, by the way.
Those navy blue jackets with the gold buttons are my favorite. I sometimes don't wear a tie, but I do if it's a bigger tournament. I don't like them at all.
I have a dark gray suit that I wear. The jacket fits perfectly (except for hemmed sleeves) and the skirt is A-line (pinned in the back). This way I have room to grow into it. I have a bunch of these nice, plain camisoles (I like my purple ones the best) from New York & Company that I wear underneath for a bit of color but nothing too noticeable. Sometimes I switch it up with this silk skirt, but for the most part I wear this suit to every tournament, and I've grown quite attached so I hope I don't grow out of it (but, 2 years is a long time to grow haha)
Lol well my favorite fashion is a Blue Suit with a amazing Red and gray tie. Then Wearing a bright red shirt or a burgundy shirt. Black shoes.
Tho next year I am wear a pair of black pants, probably a red, burgundy, or green shirt or purplish shirt. Then a black sweater vest with a gray or whit design. Probably a black tie or a white or red one.
