I love dressing up for debate! I have a wide range of variety of shirts, but my favorites are the following: a beige suit with a white shirt and brown stripes on the collar hinges, a brown handkerchief in the pocket, brown scarf and brown tie. Then there is a black suit with a yellow shirt and black stripes on the collar hinges, and a black and light white handkerchief in the pocket, black and light white tie, black scarf and a fedora hat with a black and orange feather. I also have four pairs of sunglasses. And the shirts have buttons on the sleeves to take off.....I love to compete and have fun, but, oh, speech fashion is awesome!!!!!

I usually do a classic black skirt suit with a fancy white camisole underneath, and get my hair out of my face. But for Nationals this year I'm packing a simple grey dress with a square cut neckline to pair with my black pumps. I think it's professional but still very trendy.

I love picking out my outfit before tournaments! I have 2 suits, one is a black skirt and matching suit jacket. The other is a grey pinstriped pantsuit. If I wear the grey suit, I will either wear a black sweater or a green sweater underneath. If I wear the black suit, I will usually wear my gold blouse that has a frilly, wide collar (it goes perfectly with the suit!) but sometimes I wear a red blouse. I also have a grey skirt that I will sometimes wear with a pink button up shirt. No matter which outfit I wear, I always do my hair with a black headband and wear black dress flats.

At my school we didn't require suits for guys before but we're trying it this year. One of the guys on our team who competes in discussion is arguing that while being in a suit is an advantage for interp events and extemp, it isn't necessary to score well in discussion. Guys not in the suits at meets are a total pet peeve of mine so I'm trying to fight back (politely of course (: ). He claims only 5% of the guys in discussion wear suits.... Is he right?

no he is not right lol
being near fort wayne, (and seeing as how that is where it is the most serious) discussion is definatly like every other event.
up north, almost every guy is in a suit.

I think guys in suits look 10x more professional... at the tournaments we go to almost everyone wears them.

Grey/Tan (I'm not entirely sure what color is) suit with white/blue shirt (the only boring bit) and a blue/gold tie (it turns blue or gold depending on the color and is awesome)

I think picking outfits for meets is one of the most fun parts of speech.... Is that weird? Haha.
This season my staple look is:
    Black skirt suits
    Ruffled blouse underneath
Headband (that matches the blouse, of course
    T-strap black pumps
    Pearls

And the color of the blouse/headband changes for every meet.
