Just jivin'. Anyways, the hate on this thread is fun. I was, however, reading the results from Mr. Rappmund's post about pairings at Nat Quals, and it was quite impressive them going 6-0 and getting to nats by default. If we are going by tournament success this year, then, I would like to note that I don't suck (i can't emphasize this enough). I won or placed 2nd at tourneys in PFD, Congress, Duo, Oratory, and both National and International Extemp. I will regress and give Golden BR their proper dues, big congrats and the like, i just would appreciate the same reciprocated. But then again the hate is more fun, so just keep on because that makes the forum better. This love fest i just typed (with apologies now) makes it boring.

you suck. you compete in a ****ty nfl district (hence your 2 time quals to nats in congress and once in cx) you can say you've had a lot of success, but you have just had a lot of luck. at state you got 2nd because good teams had poor draws. of course your gonna qual to nats in cx this year, you only had one other reasonable team in your district.

****ty nfl district? it's hella better than your out-of-denver uneducated dumb**** shinnanigans. i pray for the rounds where i can hit grand junction or equivalent with a circuit judge. next, i'd like to point out that 3 teams in semis at state (us, eaglecrest, lakewood) all are from our district. where was grande? that's right... out in octas fool. next, i didn't get 2nd in state, i got 3rd. the reason i did had nothing to do with good teams getting poor draws... what little you know about cx. yes, we had an easier prelim draw than some, but we still took down rocky mountain will/doss and greeley west mills/dunn in elims. no easy feat pal. only one other reasonable team? i beg to differ: eaglecrest DH, denver east AG, lakewood LH, denver east TE to name a few.

pf may suck, but it still beats the **** out of you!!!!!!! adam, kick *** at nats this year and laugh when gook doesnt even break!

2- About me sucking at normal events. OK, lemme give this to you straight. I broke to octos my freshman year at state in CX, only losing to Vora and David from Mullen on a 2-1. Where were you that year? Did you break? Aside from that, i know that i have skills...

4. I hate to say it, but Bugbee (PureAdrenalineX) does have better fashion sense than those who wear clip on ties and sneaks with their suits. That's just sad.

5. I have been to Pueblo West, and i will add that to my hate list. They sent Mesa the wrong PFD topic, and yet all of our teams went 2-1...Those *******s. How'd you do there, by the way?

well **** me up the *** folks, nm_extemper isn't the only lamer on this "forum," add toped to that list. ****a, stop acting like you know what's up with policy debate and sit the **** down.

1. Kids who have some success, fit in with the disillusioned crowd of those who don't see as much success, or want to be disillusioned for some other reason, and end up being asses. This is unfortunetely seen all too often in the policy crowd (esp. in good ol' CO). A kid will adopt the alienated "i'm a cool policy kid, so **** you!" attitude. He/she will insult other kids, pretend to be better or cooler than others, and end up showing how really not cool or good they are.

fool, sorry but i am cooler than your lame ***. next, i never claimed policy as the end-all event (well it probably is, but that's a different debate), just claiming it as higher up than forum. and even so, most of previous posts were (somewhat) in jest, thus the emoticons at then end. story of your post: chill the **** out

4. Teams like Golden BR. I can garauntee you, you aren't AMAZING. perhaps, yes, you deserve props. Good job, I seriously commend you. However, at the point you start being a cocky dick, talking out your *** about things you don't understand, and pretending to be way cooler than you are, you have lost those props. Sorry bucko!

2. I pray to see you have a good circuit judge. that'd be funny. Maybe you'd win, maybe. But the judje would walk out laughing at the kid who thought he could thow down, but was actually just a wanna-be policy kid w/****y co critical positions (or maybe good positions, but run by kids who don't know crap about theory!) . At least bad teams outside of denver recognize what level they're on!

i have good circuit judges all the time. had only one slow round at state and nat quals and no slow judges at berkeley. good records at all 3 tourneys. and i know my theory, i'll debate ya right here and right now.

5. Now, about grande out in octas. I put my full faith behind spurlock/martin and breckmayer/bordon. I'd like to see you hit those teams in front of a (good) circuit judge! You'd get yourself embaressed, kicked, and walk out crying. (or maybe you're one of those kids who thinks they win, when they don't! or that they're good!) All i know is that there probobly should have been two grande teams in the top couple at state. (but props to chris and jameson, they most likely deserved it).

never hit brokmeyer/borden. but i agree with you, i WOULD like to hit them in front of a good circuit judge. as for your "embarassed, etc" comment, i don't cry, and second: fine assumption since you've never seen me debate. like i said, i never faced durango. hit canon city at golden/mullen with a circuit judge and lost the close round since i had poor time allocation and spent only like 20 sec on ASPEC. they are good and i don't deny it. lastly, i like your comment that there "should have been grande teams in the top couple" or whatever. well you can keep crying about what should've been bud, but what WAS in semis was mullen, lakewood, eaglecrest and my ***. and after taking down two of some of the best teams in octas/quarters.. i'm going to go out on a limb and say i deserved it

We've got humor, really. Don't leave us!!

but now, not quite four years of things I hate:

1. The lack of drinking fountains with tasty water at tournaments. A very prolific problem..

2. People who talk really loud in the extemp prep room when they're practicing their speeches. We don't want to hear you! Just makes me mad, because you have to wonder why they do it! maybe they want to show off, maybe they have trouble controlling the volume of their voice, maybe other reasons. Regardless, it feels like nails on a chalkboard to me.

3. I'd have to go w/mayya on the one about rando people coming up to you and talking to you. I don't reall mind it in its pure form, but when people get mad because you don't know their name, or remember them, it gets annoying. Some of them just want to wish luck or something, which I don't mind at all though!

4. Kids who steal things from my boxes. It makes me sad. (someone stole my code sheet/index from my boxes at state quals. I had extras, but it still pissed me off. Cleptos have no place in the prep room, or in speech.

5. People who watch rounds with the intention of messing up other people. This is fairly rare, but it happens. they'll watch a round of something, and try to make faces and piss people off during the person's speech. I've never seen or heard of it working, but it happens. Kids who do that aren't fun.

6.Way overpriced food. Overpriced is okay and understandable, but it goes too far sometimes.

7. Bathrooms with the blowers rather than papertowels. It might reduce trash, but blowers NEVER dry your hands fully. Plus, without paper towels, when you have to blow your nose, you have to use tp - and its just easier to avoid the toilets when possible.

8. Kids who judge. about anything. It is always easier and more fun when people can just chill, and not have others judging them in and out of rounds.

9. Those people who hate. I don't really like haters. Where's the love? What the world needs now is love, sweet love! My love is all I have to give. Love me do. How many licks does---- I mean, I'm lovin' it! (ba da ba ba ba)

Maybe I'll think of some more!

Thank you for bringing this whole thread back to the original intent. I have trouble believing that some of these people have sat around hating Phil or any other specific debater/IEr for four years, so let's get off of that one.
See? Don't the random people bother you? Sure, some of them have nice things to say [to your face], and some of them really want to wish you luck [and a car accident on your way home], but others are just vicious.

Things I hate about extemp:
The whole "you cannot have cd players in the State prep room, because cds are recordable devices." Right, why don't I just put away my "Mayya's Pre-Written Extemp Speeches Mix." I don't think it occurs to these people that no one even conceives of trying this stuff unti they ban it. I'm burning copies of that mix for the younger kids as we speak! Muahahahahahahahaha. Have you guys taken a look at the new CHSAA manual? New prep rule: No kids wearing jewelry or any metal around the face will be permitted to do extemp, seeing as how aliens can beam information about topics and extemp speeches via the conducting signals. What now, you filthy cheaters?!

The rythm. 30 minutes of rush time, with 7 min show time, and hours of nothingness in between is sort of a strange pattern of adrenaline. In CX it's go time for 2 hours; the entire round, then rest. Extemp rounds are more skewed, it's weird.

The fact that someone jacked up my playdough pirate at state. I am so bitter about that, I can't even tell you.

Codes. Man what is with that? I want to be able to pick my code, and have it represented in a non-alphabetical symbol. Something like "z" for zor........ah crap.

The fact that extemp always has like 9.5 competitors per tournament, and that you're hitting the same 3 people all tournament. It's really sad that extemp isn't pushed that hard in this state; it's a rather interesting event and there's definitely a type of competitor that would enjoy it most. Coaches: make your kids extemp! NOW!

Getting topics like "What can Howard Dean do to secure the nomination" after Dean has dropped out of the race [thank you, state quals]. On top of that, getting yelled at by the prep woman for requesting a question I can answer. Little did she know the other two questions were "How good is Dean a candidate compared to others?" and "Dean or Kerry in 2004?"
^^An entirely separate gripe in itself.

Having to write my name on boards with my code. Dude, my name is like 4.6 miles long. I should be exempt. Is there a permission slip that lets you do that? I think I'll revert back to my symbol strategy.
