Default Four Years of Things I Hate

Ok, this thread is a product of 1) my being extremeley, extremeley bored and 2) reflection upon the 4 years of madness to which I, as well as most others on this forum, have devoted a great deal of my life. But we spend too much time on the positive, so this is my chance, and yours, to post the things that have pissed you off for the last 4 or however many years. I encourage you to be as inflammatory as possible [yea these boards have been as stale as a Norwegian escort service lately, so I thought I'd spice it up].
    Here goes:
    1) DPS 2003. You know what I hate about debate? 17 hour days dissolved into dust after ballots get switched and you go 114. Yep..one ballot tells me I have a "thick accent" and that "my China analysis is wrong" ....that was my Russia round, so let's hope so, lady. First tournament of the year...and an almost all novice final. Luckily, it went on to become the singular episode of its kind..but good lord.

    2) People that talk to me at tournaments that I don't know. Usually these are people that have been told by their teammates to come up and talk to me/throw food. You know what I have to say to you degenerate little freshmen? You are gullible...so gullible that I don't trust you on the streets by yourselves. Learn to meet people before you throw your aimless trash in their faces.

    3) Not having salad at tournaments. Parents usually do a fantastic job getting food for tournaments, and that's appreciated...but no salad? fruit? Aren't we trying to keep your little debaters healthy? Why can't I get other host team's freshmen to make me salad???!

    4) 4 years of awards ceremonies, and there are still like 3 coaches in this state that can say my name correctly. I'm releasing an educational video, complete with bouncing syllable icon.

    5) Not ever being able to watch anyone else, because they're run on top of each other and none of the finals, including state, are run on stage in front of each other.

Ok, all of those who read maddox will appreciate the comic value of this thread. Everything I say is a joke, so don't go blubbering to your mommy just yet. I encourage all of you to gripe with ferocity to match mine!

Good call, Mayya, this forum needed somewhere for me to *****...Here goes~These are the things i have hated about Colorado Speech during High School.

    1. State Quals and State- I sincerely want to know how i can qualify to nationals 4 times, 3 in congress and 1 in PFD, and yet only qualify to state ONCE in four years...CX as a frosh. Either I am really pathetic in normal state events, or CHSAA hates me...I tend to favor the latter.

    2. Along with Mayya, I HATE people who come up to me at tournaments who I don't know (and often times have no desire TO know). Just because i debated you once as a sophomore doesn't mean i am your new best friend. I know, i'm blindingly gorgeous and am the pimpest speaker around (come on, how good is Colorado Springs, really??) but that doesn't mean you can interupt my conversations.

    3. Northridge "Fire on the Ridge" 2003- okay, quick clarification. This by far the best-run tournament i have been to in a long time. However, no voting in Congress, and an IMPROMPTU congress at that...so bills were written THERE. It was bad. Plus, get this...I lost in PFD to a team from Rocky Mountain whose case consisted of saying the resolution and throwing out 3 minutes of cliches, like (5/3 of Americans don't understand fractions). **** tournament.

    4. Going to a quasi-poor school- I hate this very much. We don't have the resources of a Cherry Creek or even a Rampart for that matter. We can almost never stay the night (twice this year...twice!) before a tournament, even when it runs 2 days. Just because our school wants to support our 1-10 football team over the 4N6 team that sends people to nats and gets recognition. God i hate our administration.

    5. Nancy Groves- This woman is a *****. Sorry, she is. I can't stand her. She is mean and nasty and cruel and she doesn't know what she's doing. Plus, my freshman year she said i "had no natural debating abilities and would be best to find another activity that better suited my strengths." Now i attend nats each year and consistently beat her teams, who aren't that great either (minus Lindsey, she can hang). TAKE THAT *****!!!!

    6. My team being better than all of the other teams down in COS- Oh, no wait, i LIKE that...Wrong thread.

    7. Jimmy Carter- Bugbee always brings it up....that's REALLY what i'm tired of.

That's all i have right now, i'll think of others soon.

Lets see what I can add...

    1. Judges who can't hear: In one of my PF rounds this year I actually had a judge who had hearing aids and couldn't really hear my partner and I. She kept stopping us in the middle of our round asking us to repeat ourselves. Come on lady...

    2. Debaters who think yelling=debating: I can't count the number of times I've hit these people this year. Instead of actually trying to debate well, they feel the need to yell extremely loud in hopes of making it seem like they are intelligent. They are stupid and need to quit debating.

    3. Anyone who comes up to me and starts the "CX is better than PF" argument: Now this is just old. I have nothing against CX. In fact I have great respect for anyone who can do this event with success. I've tried it before and I blew. All this aside, some people still feel the need to try to debate me over which is better. They both have their ups and downs. Get over it!

    4. Northridge's "Fire on the Ridge" Tournament: Like Adam said, this was a horrible Congress. They had no clue what was happening. They actually let a kid interupt people in the middle of speeches to ask questions. One speach I got interupted so many times I ended up giving a 45 second speech. This is just gay.

    5. People who can't dress themselves: Normally I could give a rats behind what people wore to tournaments but there are some people that just need to turn a light on when getting dressed. If you wear a polo shirt and a clip on tie with tennis shoes, you need to beat yourself with a large rock until you slip into a coma. Plain and Simple.

    6. Ribbons: I hate to get ribbons. Its the old "You weren't good enough but you sucked less then the other people so here is a strip of cloth" idea. If I dont make finals, I don't want some gay ribbon.

    7. Adam--this is a joke but you are a ******* for your Number 7 and what you said in AP English the other day

    8. Batteries--Why is it that my batteries in my CD player always die the one time I want to listen to it.

    9. The fact that I haven't done Forensics until my senior year!

    i forgot some stuff:

    public forum

    chic flicks

    my little brother's madonna cd

    and this dude:

    1. State Quals and State- I sincerely want to know how i can qualify to nationals 4 times, 3 in congress and 1 in PFD, and yet only qualify to state ONCE in four years...CX as a frosh. Either I am really pathetic in normal state events, or CHSAA hates me...I tend to favor the latter.
i tend to favor the former. first, i've qualled 2x in congress and you know what? no effort required. second, qualling in PFD is for lamerz and/or cx failures. sorry but i think you just suck at the normal events. finally, state is the greatest tournament of them all... yes, and this includes nats, the TOC, the NDT, and berkeley. nothing like having a round where the judge doesn't flow and stares at the ceiling. what's not to like? (although, to its credit, the wooden trophy i got was pretty chill)

    2. Along with Mayya, I HATE people who come up to me at tournaments who I don't know (and often times have no desire TO know). Just because i debated you once as a sophomore doesn't mean i am your new best friend. I know, i'm blindingly gorgeous and am the pimpest speaker around (come on, how good is Colorado Springs, really??) but that doesn't mean you can interupt my conversations..
first off, the pimpest speaker round your parts is logan martin. second, i love having the freshman crowds. actually i wouldn't know since most underclassmen hate me

**** tournament
while non-voting congress does sound weak, you can't complain about tournaments unless you've been at pueblo west and/or dps. next, you lose in life for competing in PFD.

    4. Going to a quasi-poor school- I hate this very much. We don't have the resources of a Cherry Creek or even a Rampart for that matter. We can almost never stay the night (twice this year...twice!) before a tournament, even when it runs 2 days. hey at least your school has electricity.... golden just got running water this year

    6. My team being better than all of the other teams down in COS- Oh, no wait, i LIKE that...Wrong thread.
bro, being the best team down in the springs is like saying you're the best 2A football team. who gives a ****?

you are stupid and need to quit posting. my debate style consists of reading cards as fast as possible and yelling ad homs at my opponents. tends to work pretty well... (although that's not the key to my success this year, it's politix for real yo)

    3. Anyone who comes up to me and starts the "CX is better than PF" argument: Now this is just old. I have nothing against CX. In fact I have great respect for anyone who can do this event with success. I've tried it before and I blew. All this aside, some people still feel the need to try to debate me over which is better. sounds like you're in denial. now while i have great (cough) respect for a "debate" event that requires no evidence, analytics, and ****, intelligence... i hold onto my original opinion that PF is for those who failed/don't work hard enough to succeed in CX. bummer, eh?

    5. People who can't dress themselves: Normally I could give a rats behind what people wore to tournaments but there are some people that just need to turn a light on when getting dressed. If you wear a polo shirt and a clip on tie with tennis shoes, you need to beat yourself with a large rock until you slip into a coma. Plain and Simple.
and i'm sure you're the king of fashion. i happen to like my clip-on ties, thank you very much. and there's nothing wrong with tennis shoes.

    6. Ribbons: I hate to get ribbons. Its the old "You weren't good enough but you sucked less then the other people so here is a strip of cloth" idea. If I dont make finals, I don't want some gay ribbon.
i have a solution to your problem: stop losing

    gook...shut the **** up

    adam is the man!!!

you suck. you compete in a ****ty nfl district (hence your 2 time quals to nats in congress and once in cx) you can say you've had a lot of success, but you have just had a lot of luck. at state you got 2nd because good teams had poor draws. of course your gonna qual to nats in cx this year, you only had one other reasonable team in your district. pf may suck, but it still beats the **** out of you!!!!!!! adam, kick *** at nats this year and laugh when gook doesnt even break!

logan is the pimpest speaker in the south! aside from scotty

Alrighty, after all of the yelling, i would like to get in my words back to Phil. First of all, unlike Ryan, i have complete respect for Phil, through Sarah Whitney, mainly because i don't know you personally. So in response to what you said here goes.

1st of all- Saying that PFD is for non-CXers and those who don't want to try. Go ahead and ask Logan, Chris or Sarah Whitney, i can hold my own in a CX round (in fact i have a winning record against Spurlock/Martin and am .500 against Sarah and Henry, though they may not admit that  ) Second, against that, my school no longer has a CX program at my coaches discretion, so it's PFD or LD. I prefer PF, it's as simple as that.

2- About me sucking at normal events. OK, lemme give this to you straight. I broke to octos my freshman year at state in CX, only losing to Vora and David from Mullen on a 2-1. Where were you that year? Did you break? Aside from that, i know that i have skills...

3- I never said i was a better speaker than Logan, or Henry and Scott for that matter, because i'm not. I am, however the best speaker in Colorado Springs (not to sound pompous, but with my record it's true), which does amount to something. Saying we are like 2A football is rather mute. If I can compete against and beat the likes of everyone in Colorado Grande (which is arguably a better district than yours, competitively speaking) than i am not a POS speaker.

    4. I hate to say it, but Bugbee (PureAdrenalineX) does have better fashion sense than those who wear clip on ties and sneaks with their suits. That's just sad.

    5. I have been to Pueblo West, and i will add that to my hate list. They sent Mesa the wrong PFD topic, and yet all of our teams went 2-1...Those *******s. How'd you do there, by the way?

Anyways, those are my answers, and i'm sure you'll have answers to these, so i'd love to keep going back and forth, it'll keep me occupied for a while. Also, I must say that from what i've heard you are quite a good CXer, so no hate there. Other than that, though, i think i'm done. And no matter what Ryan says, i don't want you NOT to break at nationals. Go and rep for Colorado.

Whoa. I'm lovin all the hate on this thread, but just so you know:

The Golden CX district has never been easy. It's always contained Denver East, which despite a slight slack this year has been strong for oh......say......15 years. And Lakewood; who had a team in outrounds of state this year and Andrew Lee, Evan Simpson and some others farther back you wouldn't be familiar with. Not an easy gauntlet to run, my friend.
As much as I can see what incites you to spread the hateration, Golden BR has won a ton of stuff this year...so they are owed the fundamental props that come w/ that. Dig it?

On to the rest of the list, now that I have stuff to add:
    Debate
    1) People who never see the big picture of the debate community [and I don't even mean acknowledging circuit debate, because that's asking a lot, i know (debate out of CO could be better? GASP!)] and assume they are 1) really good and 2) know the people that win a lot, speak for them and discuss the results. This is going to come out wrong, but before you start trippin reflect on what you hear from novii/varsity who act like novii at debate tournaments: PEOPLE WHO HAVE A CONSISTENT PROBLEM WITH LOSING NEED TO RESTRICT THEMSELVES WHEN IT COMES TO ASSESSING PEOPLE THAT DON'T, both personally and competitively. Yea, that's right, I said it. You have a right to your opinion, but if you want to make a stink about who's good you have to think about how good YOU are first. If you can't back it up, keep your thoughts to yourself, or acknowledge that first. You think you know, but you have no idea.

    2) Both extremes of the CX circuit/theory/speed controversy

    Other Stuff:
    1) The Lakewood thread [thank you, nm_extemper ]
    2) Crap resembling what happened to Mr. Kretz at state quals. Sorry dude, I know how that is.
    3) Getting banned from tournaments. Dude even if it's your fault, it sucks
    4) The Pepsi girl. **** her.

Hate is officially a sport! Yes!
Props to Adam! Sarah Whitney and I are good friends, and she's told me a ton about you. Apparently you can dance.
Your answers are good; I buy it.
Lol about the clothing: Dude. Clip ons and sneakers for life! I wore flip flops all the way through extemp commentary, baby. Kidding! Actually I'm all about the suits/stillettos/dress shoes/real ties. Unless it's that brown suit from Berkeley. Good lord girl.....if you've got 6 asscheeks, cover at least 3 of them....keep it appropriate.
