    Default CX anyone?

So, everyone who has competed at district has had to go through the immense torture that is CX. Share your horror stories and success stories with us all. Those who felt they did well, what did you do well? Those who didn't do as well, how do you think you can improve? Let's share advice, Do's and Dont's etc. Plus for fun, share what topic you had final round when you were CX'd.

Hopefully I'll get to be in the final round at Districts, but I think this should be a part of all Extemp tournaments. It'd make things more exciting.

CX really should be part of every tournament. Compiling and giving an extemp speech is one thing, but being able to defend it? Thats tough. And CX is usually where the raw emotion of extemp comes into play...ive seen people cry in extemp. Both the CXer and the CXee.

Don't make generalizations. The Northeast District of your own state doesn't even do cross-ex.

I've never had to do Cross-ex at an extemp tournament, but, as a debater, every time I've seen it done I've laughed. It's generally pretty weak on both sides. (I'm talking about National finals and semis as the ones I've seen.) It's generally a competition of who can suck least - the only person I've seen do a cross-ex that I liked was Tyler, and he was ridiculously rude in comparison with the others in the round (i.e. he did a debate cross-ex, compared to the extemp style.)

My District final didn't do Cross-EX But I still think it'd be fun to do, and a good test for Extempers.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was making generalizations. I was under the impression that it was something that happened at every district tournament.....which I guess is what makes that a generalization.
