How do I refer to a piece I use as a teaser?
I've never done a teaser before in my selection, but for next year I kind of want to.
Normally I do my intro, then I go into my poems, introducing each one with its title and author. How should I do that with a teaser though? Normally in my intro, before I do any poems, I say "the poems of X, Y, and Z." (x,y,z referring to the authors of course). How should I do it with a teaser? What do you guys do?

Sorry I don't know much about Poetry intros BUT I do know that a good teaser will be roughly 1 minute to 1 minutes 30 seconds and end on a note of suspense, questioning, revelation, or a big bang that leaves the audience wanting more. And when introducing your poems' titles and author names in the intro the way you do it ("the poems of X, Y, and Z...") is perfectly fine--I've seen it done. Good luck! I hope this helps a little.

yea I have performed in poetry for the past three years and i find that it depends on the type of program your doing. if you are doing something clever or funny trying to establish that right off. consider a teaser like your giving the audience a taste of what they are about to see. if your doing a collection of several poems with several authors you may even drop all character and say the title and author before the poem. like little intros through out the piece, it is also another good way to cushion for time.
