I would hope that Dan's going to states, but from what I've seen/heard he hasn't gone to any NFLs yet!
And I must say, oratory's been so small and consistent that I doubt there's going to be any real surprises when it comes to finals. However, even if for some reason it's not the consistent breakers that make it, I've seen a lot of great speeches in prelims, so anybody who breaks to finals is sure to be good.

OO in NJ seems to be really wishy-washy so far... like, there isn't a distinct difference between the speeches. Wasn't it really really tough last year though?

Not sure what you mean by this... are you saying that the speeches are all the same, or no one of them really stands out as being incredible? Care to clarify?

What I meant was, they're not same topicwise, but in terms of quality it's really even. I mean, you probably stand out, but last year weren't there distinct OOers that always just destroyed?

Oh I gotchya. & Yea I know last year there were the 3 Harvard finalists, but I didn't do much of oratory last year though so I'm not sure about the competition as a whole.

DI has been consistent, but always difficult. There are some great pieces out there. If Summit and Ridge are definitely major contenders.
