Its the start of another beautiful season of Forensics here in Sunny Mountain Colorado! I've begun this thread to facilitate a discussion on up-and-coming new teams/competitors this year, and also to discuss the trends that we have noticed in the region. So, in a nutshell, what will this year be like? I would love to hear from the coaches on here as well, as I think they have some of the most objective perspectives.

Personally, see some strong representation from Moffat this year, in all departments. It basically seems to be the same couple of schools in the running for sweeps as it always has been.
Speaking of moffat, i am also seeing a strong team from the PF team of neece and (fill me in here, i forget). I have hit them in the past, but hitting them this year they seemed to come in particularly strong. They are both great speakers, i am only concerned for their staying power (maybe thats just wishful thinking).

So, what do you guys think/see for the future?

Humor on the western slope this year is going strong. Many competetors are giving some of their best performances. Especially Paula Ninger, Jacob Knowels and Jack Wright. The three have constantly placed in the top three the last two tournaments. Also drama is looking pretty impressive with Stormy Pyeatte and Spencer Jourdon.

One trend I have seen is that it isn't about the size of the team. At the last tournament, the top two teams were some of the smaller schools there.
David shook up the LD world. Without Chapman around LD really has become a free for all.
Still early in the season, and there hasn't been a tournament where every team has been at full strength (so many other activities such as SAT and musicals happening) and all the teams are present. I think when this happens, it could be a great tournament.
Some events have had some consistent performances and this early in the season, consistency will get you far.
I would like to see more CX teams, but that is just me.

Gosh, yes i would love to see more CX, it is really sad what has happened to that event.

I am really excited to see how this season plays out. Especially the debates, I think there is some opportunity to "shake it up".

On other notes: Poetry is looking good with Lauren and Jared taking the lead. National extemp seems to be wide open. Jaron did well but with Mia deciding to do extemp for the moment who knows and there is Logan who now has the coaching of Tony. To win foreign you still have to get through Palisade.

That's LaureL no lauren from montrose. Poetry is looking really good. Castellini has been place consistantly also. She could really give people a run for there money later on down the road.
