A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything
Resolved: The United States federal government should substantially increase social services for persons living in poverty in the United States.
Their idea was targetting poor education for pre-schoolers, since Elementary School, Jr. High, and High school is paid for, they wanted to increase education for the young ones. Which at first I was like, ok, sounds good. Then... I was like what? Apparently, in order to do this successfully, they must segregate the "Smart Kids" and the "Non-Smart Kids" into 2 different schools, and have the "Non-Smart Kids" School be funded by Taxes & State Grants. Because "All Non-Smart Kids can't afford proper schooling".
Then they denied everything they said, and said that the Smart Kids should be offered AP preschool. AP?! For Pre-Schoolers?!
Lets just say it didn't take much to destroy their case (:

it was a district congress one, and the bill was about how gay couples should be able to get civil unions.
two representatives decided to take the stance that "if we let two dudes get married, we might as well let guys marry there dogs. marriage was made by god. god says no gay marriage."
my mouth fell open at that point. litteraly 20 people stood up for cross x.
hahaha. i got the cross-x by some good grace of god. i decided not to refute his personal opinion, because i would have used too many colorful adjectives, and said "are you aware that this bill is not about marriage?"
There was once a whole policy case based on the current topicthat said Chuck Norris would solve for world-poverty through lemonade stands. I kid you not.
Where I debate, not a lot of schools do policy so there were a lot of fillers at nat. quals.
