Some people have mentioned FFI on here, and I'd have to say I'm a huge supporter. Anyone looking for a camp in Congress, Public Forum, Extemp, Oratory, and ANY Interp events (including OI) would be really happy with FFI. All staff members in each event are VERY accomplished (as shown on the site) and are very accommodating to every attendee. Many successful speech and debate students who are currently competing have attended and/or plan on returning to FFI (ncluding 6 Crestian champions, Glenbrooks champions/finalists, NFL finalists, etc.). After three years of attending the camp, I wouldn't have it any other way. ;]

    Here's the site.

This seems so fascinating to me, this whole interp camp thing. I've always designed most of my pieces in front of my mirror, so i'm really unfamiliar with the idea. Can anybody describe to me what a typical interp camp is like? what kind of stuff is done there? what a day at interp camp looks like?

I'm from Illinois and we have three pretty well known camps.

    ISU Summer SPeech Institute

    Bradley University

    and Northwestern NHSI Cherubs: Speech

ISU is more for IHSA (which is illinois) while the other two I believe accomadate students from throughout the country.

I've only been to GMIF, so I can't really speak for any of the others, but it was a great camp which teaches you both how to put together a great piece, but it also teaches you what forensics is all about and why you do it.

You should go to FFI- Check out the results-On BOTH coasts- Berkeley, Harvard, Emory, and not just one kid- lots and lots of finalists and elim participants. You will leave, not just with a competiution ready piece, but with the skills to improve and do more. Staff is one of the lowest student-staff ratios of any camp and the results speak for themselves!
