Actually, I simply noticed that everyone else that posted their section results had the person's rank, name and school name instead of just a list of names
If it just so happened that the majority of the school names were Mankato West and I had to point that out, than I geuss I am a tool. But I sure am proud to be a part of this speech alma mater right nowThough the fact that it was all Mankato again is also something I take pride in as a Kato Kid.

I have to say that the final round at 2AA was quite boring. In fact, I wanted to leave half way through but I thought it would be frowned upon. I'm sure there was some added pressure having two state champs in the audience, but seriously? The round had no substance. Yes, the task was a novel. Nonetheless, it did not require 25 minutes of clarification. Also, the conclusion to put caps on malpractice was not hashed out. People kept bringing up the idea of "if you can afford it, you should know the risks." But what about someone who goes in for a routine surgery and comes out disfigured? They should be allowed to sue for damages. It bothers me when the entire round is one sided.
Anyways, enough of my rant. I felt the judging was fair. Kim deserved 1st place and Cady did well to hold onto 2nd. Third place was really up in the air. I hope 2AA does well at State. I am proud to be an alumni of such a great discussion section.
My best wishes for all of those advancing.

I'd have to agree with Ashley about some of the substance as well as time management regarding the round, but the thing that bothered me the most was after that lengthy clarafication period, the group (minus Kim who brought it up) STILL didn't know the difference between compensatory damages, and punitive damages. The whole idea behind punitive damages was that a person set out with the intent to harm another person, they did it on purpose. Last time I checked, doctors don't on purposely try to harm their patients! The fact that the group still didn't pick up on this after Kim brought it up 3 times in that weird roundabout way of hers left me flabbergasted 8O .
Well, enough of my babbling. I'd just like to wrap this up by wishing Kim, Cady, and Nick good luck as they prepare for State because I know they are all capable of doing extremely well at State. The fact that I know they will do well at State makes me proud to be an alumni of our section, and speech as a whole. I look forward to seeing everybody at South St. Paul High School :!:
