Default Parli Grand Nationals (High School Parli TOC)

Check out www.npdl.net for more info.

This is the first year for the Parliamentary Grand National tournament. It is modeled after the NPTE (college parli) and NDT (college policy) in its qualification system. You earn rankings based on prelim and elim records. Just send your results in via instructions on the website above.

I know Oregon's public debate qualifies, as do versions of parli in Missouri and Georgia. Check out if your local version of limited prep debate qualifies at the above website.

Good luck and look forward to seeing you in San Jose in April!!!!

I met Matt Vassar while Judging at the NorthAmerican British Parliamentary Championships this weekend and I can say that NPDL is probably going to be a pretty awesome tournament, I reccomend it too any HS debaters that can attend.

I am very excited to say that the tourney is supposed to be absolutely wonderful, with only the TOP caliber of competition. Not only is it supposed to be a challenge competitively, but the topics are supposedly phenomenal. Looking forward to seeing people there.

How do i get involved with this?

I've won all my league tournaments and went 6-0 in prelims at SCU, then dropped unjustly.

Does this give me any credit?

    Eh?

Jesus, you are involved... Unfortunately, they don't count league victories, so it's only prelims of major invitationals. I think that SCU is the last tourney for us that counts, but there may be more down in your area. I know Lodi isn't going to any more that count. You are ranked, though. Go to the website and check it out. Click on 2005-2006 rankings and look for your team. Talk to you soon!!

    Default Results from tournament

The tournament was absolutely fantastic, and Matt Vassar should be highly commended. The basic rundown of results goes:

1st- Aberhart High School in Canada, team of McClary and Sealy

2nd- Lynbrook High School in California, team of Diehl & Ramesh

    Non advancing Semifinalists include:

Belton High School in Missouri, team of Abbott & Scheel

Athenian High School in California, team of Jabbar & Lee

5th- Lodi High School in California, team of Miller and Niktaris

6th- Lodi High School in California, team of Wolfe and Nantt

The rest of the 18 competitors did not get past the first break, but awards were given out up to 10th place.

If I've gotten names confused, I apologize.

You got the Lodi teams right!! FYI to everyone who went, great job!! To anyone who didn't attend, I SERIOUSLY suggest going next year. The tournament was by far the post legitimate PARLI tourney of the year. Congrats to everyone who attended!
