Yesterday we had a meet at Edgewood High School. We had a good time and everyone performed well but some of the ways the tournament ran surprised me a little bit. For example, they gave 45 minutes for extemp prep....when has THAT ever happened? I'm not complaining because it was easier, but you'd think so close to sectionals they would stick to sectional rules. Another thing that surprised me was my placing. I got second place in impromptu but my coach later found out that I had tied for first place. They ran out of ways to break the tie so they flipped a coin and I lost. It made me laugh a little bit that of all things I lost because of a coin toss. Just a few little oddities that surprised me yesterday.
