    Before starting, ask your judge/timer (if available) how time signals will be given during prep and speaking. This will ensure you are getting time signals.

    For students new to this event, work on keeping your prep time to 1 minute 30 seconds or less. Try to work on not using note card or use it vertically so you can easily conceal it with your hand.
