I've tried to come to my assistant coach with a few topics but every time I come up with one she just shoots me down. With the new season coming up quickly I feel that I have to choose something and I would rather do a topic that I find interesting and that I'm passionate about rather than have her come up with one for me.

So here they are:
1: Growing up too fast and increased pressure of youths to choose jobs and colleges and make financial decisions etc...
2: Media consumption and increased reliance on the media (more specifically tabloids) for our information. Also people being more influenced by the media.
3: People (more specifically youths) being nonchalant and not taking action or being passionate about anything. Decision making has fallen to the sidelines and the decisions our youth today make (or lack thereof) will shape the future of American society. This is going to affect future generations yadda yadda yadda...

Please help me decide! If you like more than one of these rank them!
I appreciate any help that you all can give me?

Number 1 the growing up too fast is original, #2 is being done literally by everyone this year, and #3 isn't unique. I also think you can have the most fun at establishing ethos with the first one, especially if you personally a passionate about staying young and not having to grow up too fast. Do 1! :) And sometimes the only thing a coach wants is a well researched rough draft and they'll be a lot more open to anything you shoot at them. Best of luck!~

Ultimately almost every topic has been done, and I've specifically seen those three topics myself. BUT oratory is only as "original" and good as you make it. If you feel more strongly about an over done one and think you can offer a new twist or take on it, don't let the fact that its been done before shy you away.

However, I would stay away from topics that are obvious. I hate sitting through rounds of topics like apathy, judgmental, bad apologies etc. Don't tell me things are a problem if I already know they are, those topics are less impactful than the ones that open your eyes to a significant problem that you didn't even realize was an issue.
