I'm on the hunt for some poems about being overweight for my program next year. Any suggestions/places where I can find them?

Any Eve Ensler is pretty golden. There's a lot of hidden gems in the realm of body issues in I am an Emotional Creature.
Cake by Todd Colby rocks too.

I'm doing a program on being obese as well! I've won two tournaments and placed second at the other one last Month. It's also been a total blast!

My favorite piece I'm using this year is "This is Not Glandular" by Dan O'Neill. It really adds some sassiness and humor (If you cut it off at the right point; it turns dramatic in the middle). Just change some of the wording so it works for you.

Also, "Fat is Not A Fairy Tale" by Jane Yolen. It really adds a socially conscious point with some humor.

Good luck!

Airwick,

Where did you find "This is Not Glandular?" I am a coach and one of my students would like to use it in a program this year...but we can not find the origional script.

Any help would be appreciated.

My coach brought it to my attention. There was a youtube video of a guy performing in Iowa (I think). She got it for me...so I'm not sure if it was in a book, off of the internet, or if she just got it off the video.

Sorry...lol.
