The book thief is a book set in the the 1940s in Germany and its a bout a girl who steals books and in the end every one she know and loves dies... I was wondering if any one has ever done this as a prose because i have no idea how to cut this.

That actually sounds really cool; and in my ten years I've never heard of it being done. But I'm only in a small part of the country in my knowledge.

I tried so hard to get this cut into a duo but just could never get it to quite work with the cutting. I LOVE this book, but it's a rather difficult cut because of all the subplots that are so amazing. I would focus one particular aspect of the book (e.g. the relationship between her and Rudy or Death telling the story of her stealing books). Then once you isolate the story you want to tell the cutting process will become much less daunting. Kudos if you can make it work.

Well I took my cutting of this to the first tournament and I got first in prose... It was the post bombing part.

This is a phenomenal book and a great piece. My friend and I did it as a duo last year. We focused on Rudy and Liesel's relationship, so it was fun to see them be so close and then heartwrenching to see him die. We only did it at two tournaments (at the end of the season), but placed 3rd at the second. You could always do the part where they steal the book from the mayor's library. Or my absolute favorite, Max and the "it's a beautiful day to die" scene, or the "stars- they burn my eyes" part. Makes me cry every time.
