I am currently in the process of writing an Oratory, but I feel that my topic and approach to the problem is cliche, overdone, and too conventional.

"Nowadays, we all want positive outcomes with little work or effort, and as a result we give up because our immediate efforts do not produce instant results. We get too tied up in finding that instant gratification equates to success."

What do you guys think of this? It's my thesis, but it should sum up what my oratory is about. Is this topic/approach cliche? Overdone? Etc.

I think this is actually a really good topic! But what i think you could branch off this idea would be something along the line of this sense of entitlement that people have.....like after putting in little effort and little work ethic people still exepct a satisifactory result, that they feel entitled too! i dunno see what you can work with, to me if you cant summerize your topic in one word, it is to complex! good luck!

I think that's a great idea! I wish I'd thought of it....and I like kevking's suggestion too. I think that could make a kick-butt Oratory! I say go with it!

Yeah, I remember that Adam Boucherab used the almost exact same oratory topic last year, so yeah, it's definitely solid. Lol, not to say it's overdone, because that was my first time coming across it. And I know that he mostly used that oratory within Minnesota, so I don't think it's very common. Have at it, I personally loved the topic!

Thanks everyone! This will be the first year that I'll be doing oratory so I'm quite lost, but I've decided that I'm going to be using this topic for next year! :D.
