Yeah. . it's a unique thing, but hey every school has its rare gem. Northbrook- they've got that REALLY big ramp, Aldine- short bathroom stalls, Bellaire- confusing building, shameless plug- Pearland separates previously qualified and and non qualified people in their events, but hey a tournament is a tournament.
Also. . debaters, interpers, and extempers dancing. . that's just. . scary
 LoL, see you at the tournament in 2 wks

Humble also has really small bathroom stalls. I think Pasadena does, too. And Galveston Ball....
it's a little unnerving to get into the stall, start to turn around to make sure you can do your business in an un-nasty stall, and see your duet partner right next to you doing the same...
just a little creepy.
either way, my whole team can't wait to see this dance. whhooo!

haha exactly what I thought when I heard about it. Just thinking about the people on my team dancing...very odd mental image. Sounds interesting, glad to see a tournament trying to get everyone to have a good time. Not quite sure what it'll be like, but I'm looking forward to finding out.

Oh wow, the dance was as crappy as I expected. We went there and stood around for a while and were frightened by the grinding ghetto acting debaters and interpers. Saw two of the members of our team being like that....I ran away frightened, and it was dark with crappy music and the lights kept being turned on. Then after we left there were guys like dancing really nasty to girls and a teacher came by and turned on the light and it ended.

yyeeaahhh.... i didn't see it, but i heard about it. i was so friggin tired. i had a million rounds today, so i sat back and played some poker with some of my other teammates. but i heard about the dance. some of my team came back mortified, some came back laughing hysterically, some were mimicking the "ghetto dry humping" that was going on.
ah well. it proved to be a good laugh. and i kicked butt at the tournament... we got 4th Sweeps. found out had two of our debaters who did student congress not had their ballots thrown out because they were debaters in student congress, we would have had 3rd sweeps. ho hum i guess

Yeah I hit a lot of people from Friendswood in DI and prose, you have some really good interpers. Congradgulations on the sweepstakes. Our school has pretty good debaters but a lack of good interpers this year so we haven't gotten a sweepstakes yet. Last year we got a couple because we had awesome seniors, but they gradguated.

aw, thanks. it was cool to grab 4th again. (we got 4th at U of H too... *sigh* no trophy, but it is still cool)
ok, i'm going to sound like a retard perhaps, but what is your name again?
our DI-ers did pretty well there. no finals, but one made it to semis for the first time, and she was pretty excited.
I did pretty well:
2nd in Prose
3rd in Duet (our other team in finals took 4th)
7th in OO (i was sooo surprised to even make it to finals. i went retarded in semis and gave by far the worst speech EVER in my entire life...)
how about you?

ohh I think I hit you in prose prelims maybe. Good job at the tournament! I'm Rachel, and I don't know your name. Which piece was the girl that got to semis for DI do? I might have been in her semis room. I got to semis for prose and DI and then got last place in my semis prose room and 6th in semis for DI. I really need new pieces....Our school isn't very good. We didn't have anyone in finals for IEs, we did have one of our CLDers take second and an nlder take first or she might have been first for ncx, and two people in impromptu finals, one of them stripped during their impromptu finals round and then walked in the cafateria with his shirt still off.

Rachel.... are you from Steven F. Austen? I talked to a Rachel outside my semis round. Rachel and some guy who was helping her with her prose piece... and our judge made us go into the room one at a time, so that was interesting. I'm Melissa. I did "The Broke Diaries" as a prose. Um, the girl who got to DI semis did "Women and Wallace." it was Kira, my duet partner
the girl on your team must have gotten first in NLD... our NCX team took first. yay for them! we were happy. now they are all freaked out b/c our coach wants to move them up to CCX. lol. they are finding every excuse in the book to delay that one.

Yeah that's me. I did talk to you in front of prose semis, I got last in that round lol. I had just cut that piece the night before at the previous weekend and hadn't worked too much on it after that, but then I tried to fix it since I broke past prelims and didn't think I would. So I had Ben try to help me. His first year in speech but he previously had been in theater. Not quite my favorite person. We were actually on good terms that day. It was interesting that she took one at a time. I like to do it just in front of the judge sometimes, but I like to watch everyone else's piece. I think Kira might have been in my room, that title sounds familiar but I have a very bad memory so I don't remember her performance. Yeah the girl on my team did take first in nld, she just was in ncx before so I wasn't quite sure. Yeah our coach wants her to go up to CLD but she doesn't want to either.

Ah... Ben. He's a bit over the top. Very dramatic.
Well it's cool that I can now put a face to a screen name on fol.net! Do you have a Cameron McFarland on your team? Something like that? His oratory is something like "Homosexuality and the Road to Macdaddiness" I talked to him too.... STRANGE child. STRANGE.
What was your prose? Out of the two rounds we had together, I never got to see it.

Hahaha you seem to only know the strange people on our team. Cameron and Ben I think are at the top of the list of people that even we try to avoid contact with. Not a good representation of our team. Ben being very dramatic is exactly how to describe him. He was doing something at the "dance" and Wendy said you're creeping me out and he threw this hat he had on at her and ran off, and wouldn't say anything to anyone the entire rest of the tournament and ride home. And Cameron....well he's just odd. Strange is a good word to describe him. My prose was Dreamland by Sarah Dessen. It's a book and I just cut out the climax of it. I need to either work on it or get a new piece. Maybe a new cutting of it would be good. It's hard to cut down to 7 minutes though.

Yuck Ben...Oh, by the way, I'm Wendy. I'm in interper from Austin too...yeah, Ben and Cameron are NOT by any means an accurate representation of our team....stay awa from them or they might start to hit on you and that, I can tell you, is NOT a pleasant experience. Ben is known as Mr. I-Hit-On-Anything-That-Moves

lol... everyone's got an interesting one on their team, eh? we actually have a guy on our team who reminds me of Cameron... except he doesn't do karate moves to warm up before a round. i spent about an hour waiting for a third judge in OO semis with Cameron... THAT was interesting.
ho hum. what is the next tournament you guys are going to?
evelyn
11-26-2003, 09:08 PM
haha I'm not surprised he did that. An hour with Cameron, that would have been interesting. Our next tournament is UT but they sent the entries in late so only one interper gets to go. So our next one isn't until after the Christmas break. We're going to a lot though when we get back. I don't know which ones though, I haven't thought that far ahead.
MovieStar1084
11-26-2003, 09:15 PM
yeah... we were supposed to go to UT... but ours went in late, too.... so we don't even know if we can go. if not, the varsity who was gonna go might be able to go to stratford with the novices. if we can't get in there... well, we're screwed out of a tournament. yay us. :(
ElFlaMenCo
11-28-2003, 12:20 PM
Oh, well we were MEANT to go to UT (Rachel and I) but they limited the IE events so only one of the girls on the team gets to go. But after that, the next regular tournament is Lamar's on the 9th i think...im not sure of the exact date. which one are you going to next?
MovieStar1084

if we don't get into UT, then ours will prolly be Stratford that same weekend if we can fit (those of us that were going to go to UT) and then i think our next one is next semester at.... Katy maybe? then Jersey Village that following weekend
