pffff, you blow. Oratory is cool, much more than you coolxtemper. If you look at GOOD oratories, you'd recognize how good the event can be. Every event has a bad side, but speeking from the viewpoint of an orator and an extemper, I can say that oratory is a worth while event. Hey, some of the most inspirational moments in history have revolved around oration. Some of the oratories in competition, although not intending to alter history, can have an influence anyway. I suggest you watch some really good ones.

I think that many times oo's are always on the same things, hardly ever do you see creativity..thats i wrote the oo i did.

i don't like OO much either, but that's just because of the competitors. i saw some really cool ones this year. and some weird ones. and some stereotypical ones.

you know what's fun? doing my OO right after the third oratory on discrimination - all types, btw. i saw OOs on discriminating blacks, whites, mexicans, blondes, and the chinese all in two rounds, and most of us were in the same room both times. it was kinda funny - and then do my OO about a lack of originality. all my ballots loved the idea and said it was funny because all the other OOs sounded the same.

hehe. i win. it's fun!

anyway, OO can be cool. if someone has a really good speech, then it is one of my favorite events.

I am new to both OO and Extemp but i do like both of them a lot they both show creativity and they are just FUN. BUT... I think it is rude to just come to the OO Forum and say that I don't like it. I am not trying to be rude but if you don't like it... Say it to the Extemp ppl. I mean it is a waste of our time just to read that you dont like OO so ya.

Aside from debate and congress, oratory (sometimes extemp) is the only real speech event. I mean c'mon. We spend months researching and writing and re-writing speeches. Whereas interpers find a piece and memorize it. A freaking gerbil could do that.

whoa. simple opinion, right? half the people here i'd bet hate OO or "dislike it" in some way or another. generally speaking i hate it. just expressing our opinions... it's not being rude OR wasting time.

ummm OO is the most boring thing in my league...really its very boring. but i watched OO at state and at some invites and there were some nice pieces....i might start doing OO cause my league is messed up and we cant double enter in the same pattern and all my events are in the same pattern so...yeah this is the only chance to double enter.

And most of them could barely figure out how to get eat their food without also eating the dish, much less creatively cut, memorize, block, vocalize, and perform things like Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer or Bent. :roll:

Dude OO rocks in our dist...you can be creative and make anything out of the event that you want. That is why I love it so much...you can go in to one OO round and think OO is one thing and go into another and think its a whole diffrent thing... I LOVE OO!

Zach you rock! In the Philly league OO is the place to be. It should be the same like that everywhere, but unfortunately for those people it isnt. And in my league when we have an awards ceremony and it comes time for extempers, who are just forgotten about sometimes, its like "oh yea..them."
