I've been involved in forensics for two years so far, but I've never really ventured out of interp and acting. This next year I'll be trying oratory for the first time, and I have a few questions.

1] What are the NFL time limits? Around how long have your successful speeches ran?

2] What are the recommended number of quotes and references? (By this, I mean any recommendations from the NFL or you.)

Thank you!
Kate

1-The time limits are the same as those in interp; ten minutes, with a thirty-second grace. Obviously, don't abuse the grace. Depending on the quality of the speech, time shouldn't matter too much. I think the best ones hover around 9:30, however I octa'd at Harvard with a speech that wasn't even eight minutes long (MOST unadvisable).
2-Most oratories I've seen have a handful of quotes, typically from psychologists and historians and analysts. I would say, at a minimum, two quotes are good. I believe the rule is no more than 150 quoted words.
