08-25-2003, 11:45 PM
Ha, yeah, Bambi... Simply amazing... He does his whole piece with crazy blocking, and in the end, he does it all in rewind. Kamen, you are one crazy guy. Me and JM got romped in Duet semis... Somethin' like 44556... Ha ha, it's all good though, we're changing our piece to The Big Bang. Oh yeah, Kevin, you and Diego's Duet is awesome, and I think you should've been in finals... Felder and Barrientes made up their piece on the spot... It was funny as **** though... You're piece has crazy cool blocking man. By the way... Anyone else think that Down Came The Rain was one of the most awesome pieces ever? I hit Ben and Dusty in prelims and in semis... That sucked.

hey thanks zech. i didnt think we would get to finals. i think diego and my piece is over the heads of a lot of people. i didnt even understand it the first time i read it. i duno what d and i will do. we will probly keep it, i duno if we plan to do it at state or not... i would like to do OO and DI, but ill have to decide between HI and Duet. haha of course, i probly wont do DI if I keep doing like i did at foster with it... haha! 3rd in prelims WOOHOO! lol. hey who watched duet finals, and how was it? also if anyone watched the final oratory round, id like to know how it went as well. i only got to see diego and lauren's.

hey i went to foster. man that place was hard. i saw HI finals and it was awesome. kamen was hilarious, as well as that guy that did wigfield. oh man, i almost wet my pants when he did the manly stripper. kevin, what piece did you do? were you the western civilization guy? that was great. emily dickinson...ha! oh, and the girl that did the english class piece was amazing too. "what teh **** are you doing, sit down"...she was funny.
hey, i also saw duet semis with the down came the rain kids. (didnt they win first?) so, luciouszech (sorry, i cant spell), what piece were you? were you the sounds of silence kids? that piece was sad:(...hahaha, anyschpooo-yeah, that tournament was hard. anyone see DI finals. i heard one of the down came the rain guys won. what piece did he do. um, okay, im kinda rambling here...
xxLusciousZechxx
08-27-2003, 01:34 AM
Yeah man, we were the Sounds Of Silence fellas... Which piece were you? And yes, Down Came The Rain won Duet, and Dusty (Brucie, the mentally ill younger brother in Down Came The Rain) won DI... I don't know what piece he did though. The girl that did Primary English Class in HI finals did Duet with Kamen... They do some Dr. Suess piece... I heard it was good, but an EXACT copy of a Duo at Nats... Anybody able to confirm/deny this? I'm out for now... Later days my friends.

08-27-2003, 10:37 AM
hmmm... dr. seuss? is it cat in the hat by any chance? i have heard of that piece as a duo at nats, but i duno. i didnt see them, but judging by how i have seen them both perform the times i have seen them, i bet it was great. forensics is off to a good start... there are so many people who are good already, state is gonna be freakin awesome competition, i just can't wait. who else was noteworthy from foster? i didnt see many performances because i was cross-entered, but the HI's i saw were good. was there anyone who didnt break to finals who yall think should have? cuz there are always those people. like last year at state, some people who i expected to watch in finals didnt make it, like cody. who did yall see in semis?

i think cody kirkpatricks duet "idiot letters" was extremely funny, it was in my semis round but didn't get to finals, so was the churchill duet "the death of frank", which was one of the best duets i've ever seen acting wise, but they didn't break to finals either

hey i was the girl in 'idiot letters' did we ever hit you??

I don't know if they made it into finals or anything, but I think that the people that did Shadow Box were awesome. I'd never seen that piece cut like that. Anybody know how they did? They went by their first names, Kyle/Sally... Wow. I remember everything about these tournaments... Crazy stuff. Anywhoo... If they didn't make it, they should've. Anybody else see any pieces that should've been in finals?

hey hey hey! i remember you stephen, ya'll duet was really good! i thought the line 'i wish you would all just GO AWAY' was very powerful, and the little Sir-Mix-A-Lot lawn mowing thing was funny. i'm most likely getting a new HI too, why are you getting a new HI?
TIEbreaker
08-27-2003, 06:57 PM
thanks, well, i like my HI, and i think i could do more with it, but when i saw y'alls duet, it was so funny, and it seemed like it could be an HI. so i figured why not try it out, so i think i'm going to change it to that.
by the way, is y'alls coach making you change your duet like you said, because i think you should stick with it, it was great, just my thoughts

hey kevin, do you remember me, i was in your HI semis room this year and last year at the foster tournament, last year i did the HI about calvin and hobbes and the snow goons, do you remember me?
brdwaybabe05
08-27-2003, 08:00 PM
wow! that's exciting that you are gonna do it as an HI, have fun with it! It was a lot of fun to perform... the 3 times we did it, LOL.
it's not just my coach that doesn't want us to not do the piece, we told her that if we didn't get good judge feedback with it, we would change it, so on monday, our coach decided to assign everyone on my team either a new duet partner or a new duet piece, and now I have a new partner and new piece, BUT Cody and I will continue to do "idiot letters" for duo, so it's cool. we had always planned on doing it for duo, and then we just decided to make it a duet at the last minute.
feel free to IM me sometime, and tell me about your cut of it, maybe i could help.
ciao for now.

yeah i remember u tiebreaker. whats yer name though, i forgot. we were in semis together? i was cross-entered like crazy so i only got to see that one girl who did the peter pan thing and paige clark(she did hairspray). whatd u get in that round man?
it sounds like all the duets were awesome... it really sucks that i didnt get to see many of them. i did see sounds of silence (zech woo hoo), inventing van gogh, down came the rain, that one where the guy has aids and his brother's wife falls in love with him, romeo and juliet, happily never after... happily never after was funny...
xxLusciousZechxx
08-28-2003, 09:34 AM
The AIDS one you're talking about is called Stoning the Crows... I think. Dude, was I the only one that thinks the guy in that Duet looks like a smaller Tom Finley...? I think his name is Silcox or something like that... I don't know, maybe I'm just dumb. Later days my friends.

yeah that was it. i dont know about the tom finley thing. he kinda looks like him, but i only saw his picture in the rostrum... i didnt go to nats so i havent seen him in person. it was a pretty good duet. jordan saunders is a good actress... hmmm... ooh also, HI finals was the first time ive seen michelle(sp?) galdenzi(sp?) perform. i was impressed, shes very good too. paige clark (national poetry finalist i think) was in like 5 of my rounds at foster lol. i saw her perform 2 or three times. shes good too...

hey steph, what tournaments is GP goin to this year?
brdwaybabe05
08-28-2003, 03:15 PM
These are the Houston tourneys we are scheduled to go to: The Woodlands, Lamar Consolidad (yours), Aldine, and Klein.
We then are going to Victoria Memorial, Westlake, 2 valley tournaments, Bryan, Harlingen South, West Texas, and then a couple more locals.
Our schedule is always apt to change though, for numerous reasons, so all those above may not be definite.
What are yall going to??

I agree about Jordan being a great actress, I really liked her Duet, and I liked it when her and Thurman (Sorry if I'm wrong) did Blue Surge last year, they definately did justice to a good script. I saw Michelle Galdenzi perform at Poetry finals at State this past year (I do believe she got 3rd...), and I think that she is a very talented actress as well. Did Paige do Hairspray? Isn't she from Churchill? I don't remember if I met her. Later days my friends.

hey kevin, my name is stephen by the way, i actually got 4th in our HI semis round, i wasn't too sad though because i wasn't planning on doing well with my HI because it was extremely unpolished, but i did get to duet finals, that was fun, oh and the spelling on michelle galdenzi is correct, she's from my school

Wow, okay this is my first time on here-well to post, at least. I saw that you all were talking about the HI final round at Foster-which I have to admit was the BEST round I have ever attended. They were all really great, and I had heard that some of the people in there had finaled at state last year in HI. Is it true? I really liked them all. Bambi was very creative, however I think the person who stole the round, without a doubt, has to be Kody Kirkpatrick (not sure of the spelling). I have no idea what school he is from or what grade he is in (I've thought he was a senior the past three years), but I first saw him perform my first year of competition (Sophomore Year) when he did a piece about a black girl who acts as Juliet. I saw him again last year at Klein when he did a piece about dating and personal ads. And, then of course this year, with "Wigfield," which completely blew me away. He has an amazing talent and gift for creating characters that are so outrageous and memorable. I told all my friends about the "Let's Go Girls!" stripper-part and we all have been walking around doing it! Hopefully, I'm not the only one that thought Kody should of taken the round. I know the people behind me commented during his performance with "this is better than TV!" Anyways, I saw that his duet partner posts on here, and I was wondering what he does to get these characters? Does your coach help him out a lot and gives him stuff to do, or what? Does she cut the pieces for him? I've always wanted to go up to him and ask him but he SEEMS as if he always has his "game face" on and is somewhat self-centered. I've never actually talked to him, so I'm just making assumptions-because most of the extremely talented people at tournaments are very egotistical and "showy". I hope he's not like that, cause I don't want to lose my respect for him-plus he's kinda cute!:D ! Okay, I am sorry if I seem like I'm obsessed or something, but, once again I thought all of the performers in the final rounds were extremely talented, it's just that Kody has a very unique and enjoyable stlye. I thought the guy that did "Bambi" was unique as well, but just lacked the "character range" that Kody and others had. Sorry if this was long! Good Luck at the rest of the tournaments!

Hey! The answer to all your questions is that it's ALL Cody.
Cody was the person who created those crazy characters, and how he exactly does it, I'm not sure. But it's all his imagination that does it. He is the most creative person I know. Sure, our coach helps him when he asks for it and needs it, and provides suggestions for him, but it's him who is mainly responsible for the outcome of his HI. He cut "Personals" and "Wigfield" himself, and he dedicates A LOT of time toward the development of his HI and working out every little thing in it. And to your comments about you being scared to talk to him...DON'T BE. LOL. He's not mean at all, and DEFINITELY not pompous or 'showy'. I'm sure he would love talking to you, Trust me, he's not the assaulting type!!
P.S. Ya'll aren't the only ones who say "Let's Go Girls" :D Cody started saying that line sometime last year, (He's a big Shania fan) and almost everyone one on my team loves to belt out that line now... especially me! LOL.

Ha ha, Codizzy is the nicest guy on our squad... He's a bad ***. He's really, really humble, and anytime you try to compliment him, he just denies it all... Crazy Codizzy. Later days my friends.

I agree, time went well and all... But... The whole judging thing... Being interrupted in the middle of my piece and having to start over because two of our judges were late... Meh... Kevin, you know what I'm talking about... That was pathetic, oui? No? I say OUI! Sorry... Had to throw in the HI quote in... Later days my friends.

oh yeah i forgot about that. that was pretty crappy... i cant believe they did that. and if they did do it, they should have gotten rid of the first judge altogether and brought in 3 fresh judges.
xxLusciousZechxx

I completely agree... The first judge saw us mess up when we did it the first time... So she probably thought we messed up the second time when we did it differently...
