anyone have any extemp questions that you think might come up in the first tournaments?

I bet there'll be plenty on Isreal/Lebanon, etc., since that conflict just "started" over the summer.

Yes, Israel and Lebanon will definitely be a big topic. Also, look for some 6 party talk questions. With NK testing the Taepaedong-2's this summer, NK will be a hot issue again. Iran questions will be popular, both in regards to nukes as well as hezbollah. Domestically, I would expect the main focus to be on the November elections, though I bet Pres. Candidates will also start to be a big focal point.

Those are just a few of the more "mainstream" things I think will be big.

Prep some of these for domestic politics (generic but they work):

1. Will the Democrats win control of Congress this November?

2. After the defeat of Joe Lieberman in Connecticut, has the Democratic Party become too liberal for America?

3. Who will the Democrats nominate for president in 2008? (You can substitute this out with Republicans too for the same effect)

4. Has President Bush become a political liability for the GOP in this years midterm elections?
