View Full Version : High School Musical
By now, I'm sure many of you have at least heard of the runaway success that is the Disney Channel Original Movie "High School Musical," but did anyone else notice that it was shot in the same High School where the majority of Salt Lake City Nationals took place? If not you will now. I really don't have anything else to say about this...it's just an observation I made.

Zac Efron was Jesus's (Chris Reinacher, a [used to be, at least] very frequent poster on this site) Duo partner.
They qualled to Nats together two years ago, but didn't end up competing because Zac had to go film a Lifetime movie.
Chris still went to Nats and competed in supps, though.
Didn't they also take 2nd at Berkeley in duo that year?
Ex-successful Interper acts in a movie on location at a host site of NFL Nationals... and yet the movie sucks... from what I've heard?!?

I thought they won Berkley.
And MLK.
Dunno, really, ask Chris, if you can find him.

It's cute in its own little way. Pretty poor lip-synching, and sound changes when they break out into song, but other than that, it's okay. I didn't know that Zac Efron did speech...weird....He was in Summerland too, right? But, was he still doing speech when that was filming, cuz it was at least two years ago, I think.... :?

Well, even though everyone else disagress (minus Cinderella), i LOVE High School Musical. I don't particularly admire any acting or directing, but i think they all have pretty darn good voices, and a quite a few can dance. but i mean c'mon; the songs are soooooooo catchy!

Fun Fact:
Lucas Grabeel (he played Ryan) aws ALSO on a speech team and made it to nationals too. He went to Kickapoo high school in Missouri, here (http://199.199.209.250/Student.aspx?id=1051882) is his nfl membership report.
"It's hard to believe, that I couldn't see, you were always there beside me"
Who wants to sing a duet with me??? I'm looking for a science geek girl who can [surprisingly] sing well...I'll pretend to be an athlete who also is surprisingly good at singing (Both of which will be a stretch). Any takers?
Until next time, "Stick to the status quo!"

I saw that movie the other day...
and I've just got to say it was really really dumb.
But, I really really really liked it, for some weird reason.

It's kinda weird that everyone watched it. I remember when it first came on was the night before a speech tournament. I was scrolling through the channels and I was like, "hmm, this looks interesting," and I watched it, even though I haven't watched disney channel since like, 6th grade. Then, I go to the speech tournament, and EVERYONE is talking about it. They're singing the songs, talking about the actors, it was really creepy.
I agree with Nocturne. You're watching it and you're thinking, "why does everyone like this?" but then you finish watching it, and you like it too. It's really cute, and it would probably be amazing if the lip synching wasn't so obvious. For some reason though, if it's on, I still watch it-over and over again. Once again, pretty creepy...

The best part is that he is from Kickapoo High School!

Yeah.
This thing is ****ing crazy. One day your doing duo with a kid, the next day your visiting him in LA at a BOP photo shoot, right before hanging out with Paula Abdule backstage at American Idol.
Its a surreal experiance.
Me and zac competed in duo my sophomore year (i just graduated). He filmed Summerland while he was doing speech. We qualified for nats in our district and we were planning to go. 5 days before hand i found out that he booked and had to film the Lifetime Original Movie Miricle Run. After success at every tournament we went to, including 2nd at Berkely and 4th at CA States, this kind of dissapointed me.
I watched the final round composed of 4 teams i had never seen, and 2 teams that zac and i beat at every tournament we went up against. I did HI my junior year and did really well but got screwed at nats. This year i did HI just enough to final at state and a couple other tournamnets. i didnt go to nationals because of a cruise.
Next year Zac will continue to act, already booked a Lionsgate film called PROM DATE, in theatres nation wide eventually and he booked the long anticipated HAIRSPRAY with Jon Travolta.
I will be attending UCLA Theatre and hoping to join him in a few years...
And, for the record, i didnt notice that High School musical was filmed at the same high school salt lake nats were held at even though i knew it was filmed in Salt Lake, I was at nationals that year, and i know zac. So i probably should have realized that.
I need to be more observant.
I just remember watching it and going, "I was there...I ate food there!" Then I realized I missed a song so I rewound it and promised that I wouldn't remember anything else, ever.
That didn't make sense, did it?
By the way, most of the reason sales are so high is because I bought 2,000,001 copies...you know one to watch and 2,000,000 to keep in perfect condition and sell for 10 times the price after a nuclear war destroys all current copies. I call that "Foresight."

I seriously thought of buying two copies of The Boondock Saints in order to keep one packaged and watch the other... but then I realized that I'm not that type of person.
and I didn't have enough money...

Antonia, you are really late seeing as virtually everyone else on this site already knew they were duo partners and I even showed you one time...
Seriously, Antonia, I expected better of you.
:D
...right before hanging out with Paula Abdule backstage at American Idol.
Well, according to a short snippet from Zac in the current issue of Tiger Beat (I was bored in the drugstore), he would love to have Paula Join the cast of High School Musical 2...yes they are making a second.
I also learned from Tiger Beat that for a mere six dollars American, you can get his unauthorized biography. I'm tempted to get it just to see what it says.
One day he's interping, the next he's Troy Bolton...they grow up so fast.
Does anyone else feel that Chris/Jesus needs a role in the next movie?

I read about HSM 2 in Newsweek...yes, it is Newsweek worthy. Sharpay and Ryan's grandfather owns an elite country club that Troy and Gabriella will be working at over the summer. The four battle it out for key roles in the end-of-the-summer musical performance.
I didn't notice that. But Zac Efron is my desktop background, haha.

i have a feeling this is going to be like Bring It On with the same storyline for every movie.

I LOVED high school musical. The basketball scenes were a bit lame....because any high school team that wins state would flip out. Not just cheer a little bit.

Why is that weird? I break into song whenever something good happens... and yes, everyone else DOES know my dance moves as well, and they join in, and it's magical.
