can you use pieces that won in nationals? my partner and i had actually been working on around the world when i saw it won. so can we still use it?

Of course you can. You have a "tough act to follow" for any judges who may have seen the finals, but that doesn't mean you can't.

i was in our school's one act play that we took to our conference competition as well as state qualifier. could i cut a piece from that and use it as a duo, or even an hi? btw, the piece was for whom the southern belle tolls by christopher durmstrang >cant spell< . thanks! :?

A guy from our school did that last year. Our school won 4A State for One Act Play in 2002, and he was in it, so he just cut the piece into an HI. The play he used was "Over The River And Through The Woods".

For whom the Southern Bell Tolls is done all the time. However, I hate Christopher Dur-hang me --- but if you like it... go with it!!!

i have to agree with "snazzyboy" on this one. chris dur-hang-me is overdone in HI the way it is...don't ruin another category with his work...and if you are going use one of his pieces, you should consider my favorite... "Laughing Wild!!!!!!!" for the love of god i'm kidding-snazzyboy will understand!!!

I adore "For Whom the Southern Belle Tolls" simply because of the swizzel stick thing.

HAHAHA I'm still laughing...but you guys are right...Durang is overdone.

...I am like Buddah...

seriously, though, For Whom the Southern Bell Tolls is a hilarious piece--"I call this one stringbean because it's long, and thin" guaranteed to get laughs in a round if done adequately. However, as you can see, overdone is the key word holding it back--I mean, I practically know the whole thing without even looking at the script!

correction: for whom the southern belle tolls is a lame, stupid, crappy script. its equivalent to a lame comic strip. the stringbean joke is lame, as well as "bla bla bla i call this one blue and i call this one blue" and the "WUT I CANT HEAR YOU" "YOUR A *****" "WAT? I HAVE AN ITCH?"

ok yeah thats so funny.

christopher durang should draw stupid comics

i agree that some of his work is pretty funny and wise, but for whom the southern belle tolls is just lameass

 When I saw it, the people were definitely making part of it up. I think that's where a lot of the funny came from.

"I call this one blue...because it's blue. I call this one ocean...because it's blue. AND I CALL THIS ONE MAMA!"

well i like the script! so ha! and when we went to competition, everyone was like "what? what did you say it was called?" ive never seen anyone do anything christopher d. done 'round here. and the hardest part about the play was trying not to laugh at lawerence as he said his "stizzle swick" lines. hahahah, oo good times, good times.
