Okay. I did prose last year at NFL after I got cut in HI, and wound up doing a few rounds with some of the most amazing pieces I've ever seen. One of them I saw 1st round on Day 2, and I came to the conclusion that I love this piece. The catch is? I don't remember the name.

The setting was an orphanage in Germany, I believe, right before Christmas time, towards the beginning of the Holocaust. A young boy and his (girl) friend are the only two Jewish children in the house. A german officer comes on inspection to try to find any Jewish children, as they're beginning the roundup. When at first they deny their religion, the officer asks the children to sing some Christmas song (I'm getting fuzzy around here, don't remember all the details) in their language. As they do so, the two come to the sudden shocking realization that only Jewish children would know the lyrics in <whatever language it was>.

I don't think it would have been possible for this kid not to have made it into finals, as he was JUST THAT GOOD, but could someone give me a hand finding the original materiel?

Have you checked the 2005 Interp Qualifiers Cutting list?
Each school who competed received listing I believe with their results.
Also, it can be purchased from NFL Online Store. It lists all of the qualifying material, author, publisher, isbn

Seeing titles might jog your memory. Good luck with your quest.

Thinking back on the 2005 NFL Prose Finals Round (I was in the audience), I don't recall any Holocaust pieces in that round. Probably got cut earlier. Sorry.
