I don't know of any powerful AA proses, but I think doing a race piece is a bit dicey. I don't really like it when black people do "Black Lit." Because, to me anyway, it seems as though the performer is taking advantage of their race, which is wrong, I think. Not that "Black Lit." can't be done well... that's just my general experience.
Yeah, thats my experience too. In fact my DUO parntner and I (thats the person who posted above!) were bumped out of ASU semis by a team that basically used all the black racial slang they could to guilt people. They were africanamerican, therefore they felt justified in doing so.
I think the best preformances are when the person transforms into the character so naturally. You can choose any race, just make sure you like the piece.

I'm just gonna guess that the black lit you saw was either at out of state tournaments or asu? Because we have like, 5 black people on the arizona speech circuit.
