So, we're not quite to Nationals yet, but I'm wanting to hear how well everybody has done throughout the year... if you have like a list of your accomplishments of the year (keep it Oratory specific), that'd be great... I just want to hear how everybody has done.
I'm also trying to keep the Oratory forum alive... it's been very corpse-like recently.

My oratory is now retired.
For the year:
4 Championships (Overton, Homewood, University of Alabama, Nat Quals)
2 Runner-up Finishes (University of Mississippi, Gatlinburg)
1 Third Place (Whitestation)
Semis at Emory
1 Tourney I did not final at (Cookeville - 1, 7, 1)
I just realized how little Oratory I did this year. Wow.

I would actually mark you down for 3 Runner Ups, Dave... you got two 2nds at Gatlinburg... although one was persuasive (your oratory) and the other was informative which is not the oratory that you normally give... but I'd still count both of those.

I'm still vacillating on whether to do my OO for NFLs, but here's what I've done so far. (I only competed with it 3 times.)
Semis at Harvard
2nd at Crestian
Florida State Champion

Go with what you are more passionate about. If you're like Dave and you want extemp finals more than Oratory Finals... go in extemp. Whichever one you want to win in more.. go in that one.

My advice to you, Noah, is this:
If you were considering IX at Nats then do OO.
If you were considering DX at Nats then go for it.
Oh, was I supposed to put a title and topic?
Title: Make Me
It is about being as passionate as we were as children now that we have things worth being passionate about.

Well, if I do an extemp, it's gonna be DX. As far as your comment, KrispyKreme, although I might get a bigger emotional kick out of finaling in Oratory, the event is simply so fickle and the quality of competition so high that I'm not sure if I'd make it past even octas. In extemp, I think that if I just speak well, I have a really good shot at semis/finals. It's a question of doing well, and I think extemp gives me that chance more than OO. If anyone disagrees, feel free to tell me to do OO. Thanks for any more advice.

I've been going through the same debate.
OO or DI . . . OO or DI . . . OO or DI

Actually, no I agree to the nines.
And I'm not just saying that because you're in DX.
I find extemp results to be much more cohesive with the amount of work and quality of the speech you give. An oratory ballot can be decided on anything.

We're all wanting to know which one you've decided to go with, Alex. I've seen you do DI and you're really good... but I haven't seen you orate before, so I can't really advise you. I think David should go in Oratory, but he will not follow my advice... but, he's got his mind set on IX. Crazy Kid...
