ok so i just got a state quals spot in storytelling and i need to know if it is better to be funny or serious....sounds dumb too me but IDK i have never done it

really depends on the story, but in my experience funny is better. but then, you don't want to be just all laugh-out-loud funny like in h.i. it doesn't have to be kidney-splitting hilarious, just not dismal.
i can't really think straight right now, so i hope this is coming out right. for storytelling, think a story that you wouldn't necessarily mind having kids hear. if a judge brings in two kids to the round, is your story going to scare them or burn their little ears? if not, you should be fine.
