I wasn't quite sure where to put this, because of the nature of the thread. . .so I stuck it here.
What are the oddest speech crossover successes you have seen?
For instance, I won Poetry and Extemp at the University of Mississippi's tourney this year. I thought that was crazy. I'd never done poetry before, but I did it to be eligible for the top overall competitor award.
What are the strangest combos you've ever seen?
Anyone ever seen a Policy kid do poetry? They could do like 50 in one cutting.

a friend of mine did HI and CX in the same tournament.
Colin West won Extemp and Creative Storytelling (in CO--for CS: your given 3 slips of paper with a character, setting, and situation on each peice of paper. Then your given 15 minutes to create a story. Your given a chair as a prop! its fun). But anywho--Colin got 2nd in CS and (from what I remember) won Extemp. it was cool.

I think plenty of kids place in non-interp and interp events all the time at the same tourney. Good speakers are good speakers, regardless of the event. I placed in extemp and HI quite a few times my senior year (whenever my duo partner couldn't go to a tourney).

I know in college at least, a significant amount of people tend to crossover into various events. I know most of hte people on my team do PA, LP and Interp and most of the bigger universities we come across tend to follow this same pattern.
I know a few schools that have debators and interpers or debators and PA'rs. Debate eww :]
