what is the first tournament that you guys are planning to go to this coming year? any suggestions?
Ted Clevenger Forensics Classic at Florida State University in Tallahassee. The tournament will be running Sept. 26-28, with the Policy Round Robin Sept. 25-26. For the first time in the long history of this tournament, IE and Congress events will also be offered, expanding on the debate-only tournament form of previous years. Last year's tournament, even though there were major administrative problems that almost cancelled the event, the tournament still had 20 schools from 3 states attend. With last year's mess out of the way, there are many more schools expected with a few more states too. So get your coaches to send you teams to Clevenger this year. I know I'll be sending my team almost 400 miles for it!

Alrighty, sounds like a plan.
Our department gets jack crap for funding, but we (the squad) go out and make out own money, so we end up with more money than any of the other departments... Muahahaha! :D

yeah, we are trying to get more funding.... we even tried sponsors for our debaters since they cost more etc but our principle wouldn't let us do that, and we always have to compete with the wranglerettes and their cookie dough when it's our turn to fundraise. GRRRR! and we're one of the most successful departments in the school

For those of you looking for a moderately strong national tournament early in the season, the Wake Forest National Earlybird Tournament is an ideal competition to hone speeches and pieces and strengthen cases. It's rated as a 4-star tourney by this site, and besides its toughness also provides leniency regarding memorization (even for speeches). Most of the top teams in the Southeast attend, as well as some from other areas. Also, it offers Impromptu!!
It is usually held the 3rd week of September.

Wow you ppl get to travel and stuff to go to tournaments, ours are always at nearby highschools. Our interp is going to suck next year, seeing as how all the good ppl on our team were seniors and we're left with the ppl with the most experience just started this last year. We do the cookie dough selling thing and all, our budget probably sucks I'm guessing.

Hey! What are the rules and stuff regarding attending Wake Forest? My school (Mountain View, Mesa Az) doesn't go to that one and I want to attend as an independant. Where can I get some information on that? Also, if anyone from my lab at UTNIF going, I'd like to travel with them if that's ok?
