Just wondering who you guys have in the final round of NFL national IX/DX. Go ahead and list 'em and add some comments. This should be fun.

I'd go with the safe triumvirate of Amaris Singer, David Tannenwald, and Josh Bone in IX. Dan Hemel will probably be there as well...

In USX, well, it is notorious for having some upsets, but i think Logan Scisco and Ron Kendler both have really good shots of making it.

Just remember, it is NFL Nationals; weird stuff is going to happen...

bone and tannenwald are both qualified in IX (that's one **** of a district, I feel sorry for everyone else  ), as is Scott, who also could be in the final round.

i just realized, i assume that was Scott Stewart, because he posts here sometimes, so he was the one i was referring to. if not, hey, you probably have a good shot too :D

Yes nationals should very interesting to watch this year. The definite favorites are going to be Bone, Singer, and Tannenwald in IX also with Scott Stewart and Dan Hemel.

USX I have no idea about but it makes me smile to believe that Scott Stewart thinks I could be in finals against Ron Kendler. Anyone know if Christos Theophaneous is doing it again this year or is he switching over to IX?

However, as we all know Nationals is prone to upsets. Amanda Knight, who got 2nd in USX last year, was 15th two years in a row and last year Tannenwald and Ariel Schneller got 7th and 8th and missed the final even though a great number of us predicted that they would be there.

Basically, with NFL you have people coming from all over the country (even from Guam!) and people shock the nation in winning or placing highly even though people haven't noticed them before. People don't all have the resources to travel to the big national tournaments year in and year out so they go into this one with a clean slate and just shoot shots in the dark but sometimes those hit the target dead-on. Expect some surprises come June even though I have no clue where they would come from!

I do know that Theophanous is going in Congress. Also, watch out for Faris Mohiudin (IX I believe) from Leland, he's been crushing the west coast competition.

I'd also add in Scott Stewart to the list. While Scott doesn't travel to much out of the Southeast, he has done very well this year with being the champion of Wake Forest, Florida Blue Key, and the runner-up at Emory. He without a doubt is in the top 6 in the nation, and I will most definitely be surprised if he is not in the final round.

8)

There were no juniors in the final round of Foriegn Extemp last year (somewhat unusual) so the field is open. I don't really keep up with DX as much so I don't know who will win. I basically agree with the predictions above. I do feel sorry, though, for people who do worse or no better than they did the year before.

Just as Logan had pointed out, a lot of people come out of nowhere to perform only at N/CFLs. of course, all of these mentioned people have very good shots at the title; they truly represent how extemp should be done. but keep in mind that obscure extempers who have made very few national appearances may spontaneously appear...

I agree with the predictions regarding Scott Stewart's chances of making IX finals...He is the toughest competitor I have ever faced, and I wish him the best of luck. I can't wait to go watch (I had to miss Nat Quals because of a scholarship competition)!

in DX i wouldn't over look the pair of allen and wilbur of texas. these two have been absolutely deadly in competitions!
