I'll be honest, I'll be shocked if this gets more than 5 replies...but here goes (http://www.cnn.com/2005/WORLD/meast/08/15/gaza.pullout/index.html):

All Israeli inhabitants and military forces in Gaza and the West Bank are withdrawing from the area. This is after occupying the area for almost 40 years after the Six-Day War in 1967. Now they're leaving, leaving the area to the Palestinians.

Palestinians and Israelis are kinda at odds, by the way. In case you didn't know.

There's been a bit of violence from Israelis, but no injuries/deaths have been reported, so that's good.

Any thoughts?

This could go either way, in terms of the peace process. While Israel does show signs of concession, I imagine the Israeli inhaitants are not too pleased. This could result in a heavy backlash against Ariel Sharon.

or it could finally settle things once and for all.

highly unlikely.

I'm officially calling for a Noah Pullout of the Gaza thread. Noah has one week to evacuate this thread, or will be escorted out of the thread through police/military force.

Noah, this pullout, while cool for someone finally showing signs of concession and whatnot, means little in the grand scheme of things regarding the Palestinian/Israeli conflict. It's a good a sign as any, though, I suppose.

Also, www.cnn.com has a pretty cool interactive chart, so we can actually see what areas of Israel are being evacuated.
