Anything can be a good topic. It depends on how you approach it. Will you be praising informercials, criticizing them, condemning them, mocking them? You have to find some way to connect the topic and the audience. If you can educate or persuade regarding infomercials then by all means write about it.

I would suggest making infomercials a smaller sub-topic of your speech, maybe use them as an example. A criticism of pop-culture is the easiest way to do this, but it is a bit of a cliche. There are many other ways to relate infomercials to something else.

But, if you do have a brilliant idea about informercials then go with it. Find some way to make it work...the more unusual the better. Remember the category is called Original Oratory. Be creative, see what you can come up with.

another suggestion would be to follow a sort of "theme" in your speech. Link infomercial characteristics into your transitions and such. The was a girl in my league that had a theme based on the show Survivor. Her transitions consisted of things like "and now we can hike over and explore..." (well, something like that) I agree with Aelfric5578 that you should be creative and overall be ORIGINAL this is, to me, the funnest and most expressive event in forensics...take it at that!!!! email me at texaslonghorns73@aol.com for further comments.
GOOD LUCK!!! (and have fun) :!:

I'm new at this, but one thing I do know is: make sure to find how it affects society. Make it important to the judges and audience.

G'luck!
