Of course you think it's a great idea, Trey, her husband has the (R) next to his name.
I want to see her run about as much as Hilary.
So no.
No liberal appeal, and she's creepy as ****.
Did you even read the article, Trey? Even Lynne Cheney, the woman who suggested it, was doing so tongue-in-cheek.
And since when did you conservatives start letting women have any power? Shouldn't Laura still be in the kitchen making some muffins for the Iraqi PM, Jethro? Next thing you know, you'll stop disenfranchising blacks. WHAT IS YOUR PARTY COMING TO?
EDIT: WHO THE **** ELSE VOTED YES?

It's ****ing fox news...
Your avatar wants to send women to mars then have one run for president... Trey, I'm sorry bud, but that makes no sense. She doesn't have a strong political background, and her smile creeps me out. Fine for first wife, but not for POTUS.
But there needs to be a strong independent that runs, not Nader strong, but stronger. It would make the race much more interesting.

But that's just not really possible with the complete co-monopolization (oxymoron, I know) by the R's and D's of the political landscape. Maybe a senator or representative can slip through, but without the backing of one of those two parties, it's going to be terribly hard to field an "independent". Even Nader wasn't really Indie, because he had the backing of the green party. No one can just decide to run for prez, it's just not financially feasible. (sp?)

For the record.........
I voted against having Laura Bush run for President. Or ****....really any political office.
See, there are these types of people we call handy dandy sidekicks..... yeah, Laura Bush is ol' Georgie's sidekick. And a fantastic one at that.
But no. She shouldn't run for anything because 1, she has no experience in doing the politicking herself, 2, she rarely takes stances on any real financial issues, just the run of the mill social issues that a first lady is expected to work for, and 3, I'm sorry, but she just couldn't carry on the Bush dynasty effectfully.
Sorry, Trey, but you have a lot of growing up to do in a political sense. (That's not meant as a condescending remark, just a forewarning of sorts....instead of this fluffy BS stuff, try posting some more serious, in-depth remarks on a political issue if you want people to take you more seriously in this forum....)

I agree with Chewie on the co-monopolization point. But if an independent that can garner more votes than a Ross Perot, we could create a much more interesting election, with a better result as well.
Disco, I am so so so sorry that there can't be one single politics forum that is for fun and not totally serious. If you think that I really think that she could make a good president you are wrong. I'm not stupid.

Well, Trey, given your track record here, it would be hard to understand you were being sarcastic. <3
And Laura, it's good to have you back, your condescension was missed.
