A piece that made finals that I wasnt a huge fan of was "The Secret Life of Bees." Seemed a little Boring.... especially for a Finals piece.

Some elements of that round were lackluster, as in, my voice was going dead super-bad. I apologize to everyone who had to watch me fight just to produce noise! It was a lot of fun, though.

I must admit that it was liberating. I didn't really want to drop an F-bomb at a Catholic tournament, but...

-- WHO THE SLIPPIN-RIPPIN-DANG-FANG-BARG-A-DING-DONG ARE YOU?!
- (Pause)
-- (Anger)
- I had never heard him use that word before in my entire- well, maybe once or twice. Forget it.

... it really wouldn't have worked any other way.

What was Paule's prose that was such a "tour-de-force"???

It just had a gigantic amount of that proverbial "soul," She paced the thing perfectly, it had the right sequencing as far as dramatic structure, she didn't have any other characters (aside from her protagonist) to get in the way, I could go on...

Essentially, when she performs that stuff, it sounds like she could have written it herself. It's like Olivier doing Shakespeare, just to throw out a name or two. Oh, and may I just add that I WAS IN HER LAB AT FFI?! WOO HOO!
