Oh. I'm EXCITED. I was going over and working with my OPP, and I will either

a) win OPP
b) barely perform from laughing at how funny I am the entire time
c) have a panic attack

and I don't think a or b is gonna happen.

but yeah...good luck to all the cali people going!

and yeah...who is going?

I'm competing in Oratory and Parli. Go to the "State Qualifiers" thread for a complete list of what you're looking for.

Lets make this thread have a topic---since it basically serves no porpus and is basically retarded.

Who ON THIS BOARD will be at states?
What are your goals?
Finals? semis? not-striat-5s?
eh? eh?

nicely pointed out...i dont know if i will be able to judge as i dont know if they allow a person one year out of high school to do so.
but i do have goals for my kids that i practiced and coached all year.
DI)
i expect Rachel Knight to final with "Bums" although she did get screwed at nat quals.
I also expect my other student Audrey Austin to make it to sems with "insanity of mary girard"
DUO)
My girls Allison Everett and Kayla Johnson with "someday you'll find it" they should make finals, almost no prob since competition isnt that great this year. and we cant forget Allison has been there before.

Those are the only one of my students i expect anything out of while they are there.
My HIer hasnt worked hard enough, in fact, he sucks, he is doing "The bible: the complete word of god, abridged." i dont know how he made it. but our league sucks in HI.
I think, only if my duo doesnt make it to finals and if rachel DI doesnt make it to finals, i will go watch HI, i've been wanting to watch your HI all year chris. Good Luck at the championship this year, you should have no prob with that.

if i had to pick the CA state champions RIGHT NOW...this is who i would pick.
(I had trouble on a lot of these...but tried to limit myself to one per catagory...it may not be who i think is the BEST...but who i think will WIN state...based on judges, reputaion and performance...included is one honerable mention---again very hard to limit...)

1. DUO- Iqwak Burji and Yui Tu - "MONKEY: A Tale From China" (leland)
-honerable mention : Alexander Tan and Joel Armamento "The Drawer Boy" (logan)

2. HI- Chris Lin- "FREAK!" (Monte Vista)
-honerable mention: Jeff Snider: The Greater Tuna (Lodi)

3. Extemp: Jonathan Weed (bellermine)

4. DI: Jonnathan Harris- "Daddy's Little Girl" (logan)

5. OPP: Jacob Alcantar- "In A Specimen Box" (arroyo grande)
-honerable mention: Alan Jaing (logan)

6. OI- Someone from logan
-honerable mention: Marcus Scheek- Malcome X speech- atascadero

I dont really know anything else...dammit....

I've really wanted to see Jacob Alcantar's OPP, our coach uses him for examples all the time on how to right a good OPP all the time. I hear the one this year is by far one of his best.

Well, I found it to be alot more of an eye-opener being the first year competing at state. I went last year, but as an alternate and didn't get to compete. It helped me get a wide view of talent from all over the state.

I also learned that socks can also be used as a hobo's diaphram.

And that The Holiday Inn is for kinky kinky indian ***.
