What the heck does one wear to a speech dance? You know, the one at the end of state tourney.

Directed especially toward Californians, who's going?

Jazz up your suit a bit. Wear a seqinend shirt under that jacket! Use a tie as a ninja-style heard band! (I can see it now..)

I don't know if we are going, but my friend during her freshman year thought the dance was formal, went in a prom dress. Stood out like a sorethumb, but it got alot of positive attention.

I am going in OPP.

Where exactly is state at? I know it's at Northridge, but I'm a cental cali kid myself, and have no idea where that is.

But I hear our coach is taking us to disney land. :D

Northridge is a neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley -- a whole bunch o'nothing -- that is part of the city of Los Angeles (although, I wish it weren't). Also, it was the epicenter of the big 1994 quake.

Of course, this means that our team does not get to stay in a hotel for state as that would be a total waste of money. Also, the state hotel is about as far from CSUN as my house, only in the other direction.

One word: LAME.

Also, I'm going to miss Prom because of State. But that's okay; state is more important.

I missed prom last year for state, but it was totally worth it. As far as the attire, everyone was completely casual last year, I mean like tennis skirts and flip flops. I wore dark jeans and a cute cut red top. Keep in mind it gets really hot and there are those girls that like to wear heels when everyone else is barefoot. ouch.

Yeah, well, I'm missing my senior prom. It's okay...sorta. I have a solution: because we live too close to CSUN to stay at a hotel, a few of us are going -or are planning to, at least - to stay at the hotel in which our prom will be held. Although, I'm sure that it's not likely to happen. In any case, I'm sure I'll go to one of the after parties.

At least I have the Speech Dance. I'm definitely not paying 90 dollars to go to Prom for 2 hours.

Wat? this is the first time I've heard anything about this supposed dance. would anyone like to clarify for me what, when, and where this is? i feel the need to get my groove up on that dance floor. haha

This "supposed" dance happens on Sunday night, after competition is over. It is an informal dinner/dance usually held at a local church or rotary hall, or in the case of last year, in the hotel. It's a lot of fun and gets kind of dirty, and I think it's a great way to unwind after competition and see everyone out of their suits. Some coaches, however, dissagree. Unfortunately for you, since you have not heard about it, your coach is probably one of those who wants to leave late on Sunday or early on Monday, and doesn't want you up. Or, if you happen to go to Logan, you coach thinks dancing is counter-productive and is a waste of time that could be better spent preparing for Nats. Either way, I'm sorry, but your groove will have to wait.

Where the **** did you get THAT!? Logan chooses not to attend the dance for a myriad of reasons, none of which is what you so slanderously wrote above.

Logan often has a team dinner the Sunday night after State. I've been to it once. I also went to the dance several times as a student. What Logan prepares for its students far surpasses, in terms of team unity and caring for each other, any "dirty" dance. Logan is bringing something like 80 kids to state this year, and I guarantee if you asked them if they'd rather attend the dance or the team dinner, every one of them would pick the dinner.

Don't paint the Logan coaches as ogres.

the speech dance was really fun! I got to back it up on Gay Brasher, the Leland coach. It was ridiculous!!! Chris Lin took a picture of me dancing with her and i hope he puts it up on the photo sharing page. If anyone saw me, i was the guy who was wearing the red spandex singlet. It was hot. There was an Asian invasion, as Chris Lin likes to say, so I hooked them up with some white girls.

HAHAHHAHAHA

bad news:

i may have left my wallet/digital camera at the security checkpoint @ burbank airport (fu**!!!%$^#$%#$& i am seriously cursed) so i'll do my best to recover them, in the meantime, the only proof of Mike Niktaris grinding up against Gay Brasher is in the eyes of those select few who watched the dirty ritual.

thanks for the white girls mike

I wish we could have gone to the speech dance...it sounded like fun.

I liked that Pink Expos.

The girl that did Underwear (I think from San Marino) was hilarious.

I also liked the Death one.

but anyway...yeah speech dance sounds fun.

The spandex-clad guy was Forensics Online's spaceman, better known as Mike Niktaris. His HI netted him fourth at the tournament. "This Chris Lin kid" is FO's chrispac, the crazy Asian who sat and ate like a fatass for the first half of the dance, then broke out the best breakdancing skills of the tournament. You're still my hero, Chris. Ha ha.

haha whos noctourne? yea expos was just a random event i decided to try, and i hated it a lot. did u do expos? kerissa was the underwear girl, and yea she's from san marino (so am i). i wish i had seen the HI final rounds... the guy who won seventh was hottt.

Chris Lin, dude, you need to teach me how to break dance. While were on the topic of asianess, are you any good at DDR? Tim and i are starting to go hard core on DDR. We even rented a DDR pad for the hotel at state. It was really fun but i'm not asian so i pretty much suck right now but watch out!!!

ohhh crazy...

It's Kenny from Clovis East.

Most of the interpers from our team saw Kerissa's First round (after being kicked out of your round) , even with all of her boards being lame and falling every 5 seconds, we gave her the 1, or at least, 2nd, to "Tea"

Paige
05-03-2005, 09:54 PM
ohhh kenny!!! how are u? long time no talk. oh yea haha kerissa said that was hands down the worst round she has ever done in her life and she still got like second. loll shes quite a funny girl and this year was her first year in speech too.

haha this thing is starting to turn out about kerissa, so anyway... who was that guy that won 7th in HI, hook me up w/ that ****

chrispac
05-03-2005, 10:23 PM
haha, yeah i used to DDR all the time back in the day... i dont know how much skills i got but i can probably manage 9 feet still just practice over the summer and we can ddr in our suits at the early tournaments this fall

and 7th in HI was a guy named greg from bellarmine, in my league.

Dude, who was the girl that Jonathan Weed from bellarmine was dancing with? She was pretty cute, I didn't know any girls who would want to dance with him.

tgjdlc
05-04-2005, 05:31 PM
well he is like the king of extemp, whether or not he is cute is irrelivent, girls like winners...ask Princeton.

Paige
05-04-2005, 06:27 PM
yea her name is May and she goes to our school (San Marino). She thinks jon weed is so hot and they exchanged #s and all, but i don't think he knows how to handle girls. he like hasn't called her back or w/e, but its his loss.

who was that lil asian kid named like yun-jay or something, and he does his expos on shadows? omg that kid was soooo freaky

garagebandking
05-04-2005, 09:51 PM
Does Jon Weed like this girl?

Paige
05-04-2005, 10:43 PM
i have no idea. would anyone know him by any chance? he should like May, shes hot stuff. haha. i'm trying to hook them up, but i'm def lacking the hook ups w/ the bellarmine boys

kerissa
05-06-2005, 03:24 PM
yeah the bellarmine boys really need to get their lives together unless they're content gallivanting with other boys all the time. someone tell jon weed to step up his game because may is a hot commodity. paige is a hot piece of ***, too. in all honesty, i'd so try to tap that if i were a guy, a lesbian, or bisexual. no lie.

In addition to dancing with May, Jonathan Weed and I danced for a considerable amount of time... He's a nice guy who entertains me thouroughly during the boring hours of extemp prep... Anyway, hopefully May got her "man" before he went off to Princeton... Good luck if not!!

my thoughts on bellarmine boys:

however testosterone filled and vaguely homoerotic their school may be, they have a knack for stealing our (Leland) girls.
