Let me tell ya, it's not just Pittsburgh. No matter what HI you do, or how great you are, you will always get a crackhead judge in PA. Don't believe me? Go to the PHSSL website (http://www.susqu.edu/phssl/Communicator/04May.pdf) and see how different and skewed the rankings are.

holy crap, it that that the "nazi beaver" piece?

and yea, this is amy hoffmann, and thanks! haha, PHSSL is hella lame. wPA in particular is infamous for having easily offended conservative "mommy-judges" though, I think. I can't count how many local tournaments my ranks have been something like 1-1-7, with the 7 ballot comments being like, "MAKING FUN OF RELIGION IS NOT COOL, KBYE". it's slightly disheartening.

oh well. Good luck at states!

SniffyGuy
02-27-2005, 02:13 PM
Yeah, Amy, those people that say you're making fun of religion are dumb. You're just making fun of televangelism... and they deserve it 8)

A-Hoff
02-27-2005, 03:43 PM
thanks Jeff...yeah, it's hella lame. My district is known for being conservative, and people still flip out at it, despite the fact that I even explicitly say I'm not mocking religion in my intro.... :? whatever.

guess that's what happens when you've got a risky piece in a conservative district  Hopefully at camp this summer I'll find a piece that works both at locals and national stuff.

Yeah, that's them. Can't wait to see them in finals.

PHSSL is hella lame. wPA in particular is infamous for having easily offended conservative "mommy-judges" thoughi

You think that's bad. I have judges telling me that "Batboy" is very offensive. And, as a begginer, I did "The Hardy Boys and the Mistery of where Babies come from." Yeah, that was no picknick. Northern PA judges are the most leanient. Ah, but they can't rank well.

I need to move to another state.
How are the NJ judges, Jeff?

And Rachel, do you have any speech results from your district?

Rachel

Im not too sure on most of my districts stuff. I know in duo it was a team from Notre Dame doing "Auditions", the other two schools i cant remember but it was "The Producers" and one about the DMV. I know Prose, is a girl from my school. Other than that Im really not positive. From my school its just us in PFD and the one girl in Prose. Do you think that ghost didnt qual a PFD team?

Three weeks left, is everybody ready. I know I'm not. I haven't done my piece since CFL quals and never want to do it again. And also, I am curious as to how big the stage for finals is (I was told it was in an auditorium). I'm not making any implications, just curious.

Hoffmann,
From one speechie to another, you going to final congress with Lebo, and if you are, do you think you'd want to support me, (Rob Metzler from Bethel Park) in the house?? I know you don't really know me that well so let me begin.

Hello! My name is Robert Thomas Metzler, I currently reside in Bethel Park and am a Virgo. I enjoy long walks on the beach and candle lit dinners. I started doing forensics in 9th grade when I did Duo. I am now a junior and my main event is still Duo. The piece I did this year was Shakespeare Abridged (AAAAAH Never Again). Me and my partner sucked. Because we sucked so bad, my coach felt sorry for me and put me in congress.

Now that I know you and you know me. WILL YOU PLEASE VOTE 4 ME???

Pretty please with a cherry on top.

I probably sound desperate...well I am.

I'll probably see you at states. I qualled in Poetry. (The highlight of my forensics season) Do you feel sorry for me??? What's that you say...yes! Then vote for me out of sympathy or pity. Spread the word. You can talk to any of your duos about how bad my duo this year sucked.
Thanks a bunch!

P.S. I just realized that there is a good chance you are not going to final congress. I probably wasted the last 15 minutes of my life typing this big long rant. It's OK though, because I have nothing better to do with my time... I am such a loser

yeah, I got 4th in comm. man, I totally would've won too, if I hadn't given a completely ****-TASTIC speech final round. I got all ones and twos in prelims and semis.... and yeah, how is "saving the democratic party" a challenge to democracy? yeah that's what I thought.

PS. while I'm in whining mode, Anna C. Reilly totally should have won, but got the shaft because of some lame PHSSL rule. just FYI.
</ bitter >.

But next year's a whole new ballgame with Fox and Frawley gone...
You're telling me! I have hit them both at every tournament, with the exception of two (which I won, because they weren't there). Southeast PA is mine next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MTL SENIORS 06: THE YEAR HGP EATS IT.
They'll get eaten by Truman. Aw man, we actually tied them at one tourney. But, with Frawley, Fox, Edwards and Heaslip gone, Ghost is that much weaker. HST, class of '06! The year Ghost gets brutally ravaged!!!!
